So I was just wondering who you guys thought was/ is the best singer ever?
Not most popular, but best, as in greatest vocal range, most impressive, gives you goosebumps etc. I would love to get links too so I can hear some amazing singers as well :P
My top three has to be Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera, and Amy Lee... I really can't think of many singers that can out sing them plus I get goosebumps every time I hear them sing soooo xD

My best friend. Most people would say, well it's your best friend, but she has the best voice I have ever herd!!! She outbeats every single teenager, has the most calming voice, with a perfect vibrato, and is just so perfect!

Definetly, Freddie Mercury! I like Kurt Cobain's voice a lot too, but I don't think he had an amazing vocal technique , I just like listening to him singing *-* And I can't forget to mention Paul McCartney and John Lennon, awww, those two are just epic <3
Lot of people criticize her, but I LOVE Lana Del Rey's voice! Her singing technique need to improve (especially when singing live, because she is very shy and it's already hard for her to sing in front of a lot of people), but I think her voice is beautiful! I would say also Lena Katina (ex t.A.T.u, I think she an amazing singer and t.A.T.u songs are so cool!), Simone Simmons (from Epica), Tarja Turunen, Amy Lee, Adele and Marina ( from Marina and The Diamonds, I actually don't like her music very much, but I LOVE her voice) as woman singers that I think that are very good!

For me, the list of "best" singers goes as this (in no order):
Patrick Stump (Fall Out Boy & Solo)
Tim McIlrath (Rise Against, The Killing Tree)
Michael Jackson
Justin Vernon (Bon Iver)
Pavarotti
The things that make these singers stand out for me is not exactly how on pitch their singing is, but how effectively they can use their voices to portray emotions. These four, for me, have done a phenomenal job at it and I believe they are four of the best singers I've heard. Now, there are still great singers who are on pitch all the time and what not, but I don't feel the same emotions.

We are talking about vocal ability, not who your favorite singers are.
The best singers would include:
-Beyoncé
-Mariah Carey
-Aretha Franklin
-Donna Summers
-Lady Gaga
-Xtina Aguilera
-Adele
-Marina & The Diamonds
-Jessie J (most of the time, at least)
-Lana Del Rey can do interesting things with her voice. She may not be the best vocalist, but she has interesting & unique vocals. The same can be said about
-Grimes (Claire Boucher)
-Freddie Mercury doesn't exactly compare to the rest of the list, but he's the best male.

Beyoncé is an amazing singer whether or not you like her. She doesn't have a single bad performance. I am a fan of hers because of her vocal ability - I don't think she's a great vocalist just cuz I'm a fan.
Have you heard Gaga sing Born This Way a capella? It's on YouTube. She's been praised by people like Whitney Houston (who I forgot to add to that list), Tony Bennett, etc.
All you need to know the two are amazing singers is online & very easily accessible.
It is beyond me that someone could think otherwise.

Hmmmm. I have a few (and it's not biased to my favorite singers)
-Justin Bieber; amazing voice range (he hits good high AND low notes), gave me chills listening to "Die In Your Arms."
-Demi Lovato; surprised no one has said her yet. She hits the highest note in "Skyscraper" perfectly live, she gives me chils bro.
-Christina Aguilera; she's perf.
-Pink- I'm a sucker for raspy singing voices.
-Juliet Simms- I just. Pure rocker chick with an amazing voice. <3
-Bon Scott- duh.
-Brian Johnson- another duh.
-Zakk Wylde- not only an amazing guitar player, pretty good singer as well.

Kurt Cobain, Eddie Vedder, Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Anthony Keidis, James Hetfield, Matthew Tuck and Thom Yorke.
All of these singers are a combination of very powerful and really good singers! I love their voices :) Although If I could sound like one of them I guess I'd have to go with Eddie Vedder :) His work in the Into the Wild Soundtrack is amazing as well as his stuff with Pearl Jam (obviously!)
