That blew my mind. Now, she has just restored some faith in humanity. /sarcasm. When old people says our generation is stupid, I now know some whom I can blame it on. (Yes, I'm blaming our whole generation's stupidity on one person)

What a really stupid thing to do. I hope she gets home safely though.

Because that's what you do when there's an intruder in your home. You tweet about asking people to call 911, instead of doing it yourself.

Wouldn't it be funny if that tweet was posted from her mobile?

How is she dumb? She set it up to run away, not the brightest or cleverest of all plans but apparently it worked out for her.

This happened about 30 minutes from where I live :P
Total waste of time and police effort - not to mention how it got people who live in the area worried. Her tweet went viral pretty quickly (in my area at least) and kids from my town and the neighboring towns were even re-tweeting it.

"Law enforcement officials have said that Alongi was never in danger. She skipped town on her own free will, they said, when she took a taxi to the Rahway train station and bought a ticket for a train bound to New York City’s Penn Station. But it still hasn’t been made clear, at least publicly, whether she ever made it to Manhattan."

Maybe she was just bored and a little sick of her twin brothers. Who knows. Not something I would do,

What if... The kidnapper wanted to mock her by tweeting "call 911" and turning it into an elaborate pseudo-prank
I kid, I kid. She probably did it for attention. No kidnapper would use a taxi:lol:

I think everyone calling her 'dumb' is completely unsympathetic.

She ran away. That's quite a drastic thing to do and who knows what was going on in her head, but I doubt it was rational judgement. This isn't 'dumb', this is a formulated runaway plan to get away from something that was obviously upsetting her or causing her harm. She might have wasted police time but I doubt this was her intention.

If she does get found reports like this aren't going to help her.
