I see that there is a lack of folk punk/punk threads. Is anyone a fan? If so, list a favorite or some good songs.
I love these bands and several others.
Mischief Brew
Johnny Hobo and the Freight Trains
Davey Dynamite
The Adolescents
NOFX

Some of my personal favorites are Andrew Jackson Jihad (even though they don't consider themselves folk punk), Johnny Hobo, Defiance Ohio, Ghost Mice, The Anarchist Pizza Society, and This Bike is a Pipe Bomb.
Mortal Coil

Laying on the floor in a pool of blood and cum
My demons lay beside as I kiss them one by one
Then on that day I met a force that nothing will compare
I was born the son of evil when I fuck the devil there...

I'm gonna fuck the devil in his mouth.
I just need to listen to my sickness so I can learn how
and then train for a couple of weeks until I have all the skills I need....
Some days I feel like I'm the weakest and others the strongest.
These days are the longest and I've got the weirdest feeling
about this and I wanna go away for a while.
Because the things that I have seen are turning me into a shitty human being.

Lambchop's album "Is A Woman" is more alt-country sounding, but it's quite aggressive and pissed off under it's beauty.
I have shat upon the hillside
Neck deep in cushion clover
Up where i'm sure you're braided
Those necklaces and bracelets
You have lost your socks and panties
Out by the caterpillar
That grades the road i walk on
While i'm dreading english

Who saw what and what stank most. New guests butchered by traditional hosts. Death is sloppy in clothes too clean. Blood runs lonely in a burning dream. And who saw what ain't what was seen and what stank most was in between a life worth living cannot be found cuz chopped-up babies don't make a sound. And a bloody little boy kept the whole town clean & a bleedin' girl child melted frozen dreams and the suns came shinin' like two big eyes and the sky spread her legs wide open, wide.

playing scentless apprentice on banjo would be much, much, more punk, but you have keep the screeching scream in there, not that anyone pulls it off like the man himself in that song

I keep saying this, but I do so in hope that some time I won't be the only one: post-punk, specifically goth, is my one true love.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I've been very busy lately so I haven't had time.
GG Allin's country album
That's some interesting stuff. I'll have to check it out.

I think that would be more folk punk if it fits into the punk category. I'm not sure it does. Banjo is wondrous though so I applaud you sir.

I haven't heard any goth punk. What bands do you listen to?

It's a sub-genre of punk so I would count it. Gypsy punk is great for dancing and listening.

I love those bands. I haven't heard The Anarchist Pizza Society or This Bike is a Pipe Bomb though. Youtube time I guess. Do you listen to Pat the bunny's other music from his bands after Johnny Hobo? AJJ is great. I saw them and talked to the bassist over the summer. There was happiness inside of me.

Why is there a thread for punk but the preface is folk punk. Makes it rather confusing to me.
I listen to a lot of sub-genres of punk, but hardly do I listen to just punk music.

I listen to mostly Folk Punk like AJJ or Post-punk. There is the exception though, I like Bad Brains.

I see. I do kind of like it, though I prefer my raspy voiced and sloppy folk punk artists.

Sorry I didn't really think before titling this thread. I listen to a lot of non-punk music as well. variety is always good.

Bad Brains made some great punk and the reggae they have is pretty good.
