View Full Version : My knees

My knees are crap. They'll randomly give out on me, one or both, and I drop.
I just went to go get food, and had to crawl back to the couch. I'm just waiting for them to be able to support me again. This is the 4th time this month in a year. Yesterday though I was jogging and then my left knee was in awful pain, I had to limp until it stopped.
I'm 5'2", 98 pounds and trying really hard to get myself to 112, I'm not in any sports or extensive activities. One doc said it was my feet being too narrow, I'm a size 5 depending on the brand if that helps any in info. And it's cold out. My parents are aware of my knees, but they don't do anything until I'm full out having a bitch fit for them to get my insurance card to get an appointment.
Anyone else have this issue or at least some advice to help stop this from occurring as much anymore? It's embarrassing and a major inconvenience to suddenly fall in public places for one, but I really just want my knees to be ok.

You should definitely go see a doctor. My knees are pretty messed up too, I fell on them pretty hard a couple of years ago and since then they'll occasionally prevent me from doing any sports. My mom thinks anything can be fixed with Advil and some sleep, so I probably won't be going to the doctor anytime soon.

That sucks, I've never fallen on my knees though. My mom said to prop them up and sleep, she said take tylenol. Mom's and their medicine cure-all's. Maybe if my knees were swollen and inflamed but there's no pain at all when they stop holding me up, except when they're trying but sorta stuck.

Yeah, my knees don't swell up or anything but sometimes when I'm running I feel like my knee cap is being stabbed from behind repeatedly. Even if there's no pain I'm pretty sure it's not normal for your knees to suddenly give out lol. I still nag my mom about taking me to the doctor, maybe one day she'll finally take me. Is there any way that you'd know when your knees will lock up?

Thats not to good... :( Well, for me previously and not so much now my left knee would give out randomly and be useless. Now it was because of a bone tumor messing up stuff, its still there but its kinda under control but lately my knee is been giving out again. It could be something with your muscles/ligaments. Its hard to say though.

This is something I would definitely see a doctor about--your general practitioner. THEN I would get a second opinion from a doctor who specializes in just knees. And maybe even a third opinion. I say this because one of my friends went to a doctor a year or so ago and the doctor claimed it was just a sprain and sent her to therapy and gave her a brace. Over this past summer, she didn't trust that doctor's judgement because it still wasn't getting better, so she saw a specialist. She had torn her ACL and the meniscus in her knee had shifted totally inside her kneecap--over a year before. She had to have most of her meniscus removed because of another doctor's incompetence. And it's not something that grows back. So for that reason, I'd recommend seeing multiple doctors/specialists about it. As for what it could be, I'm not entirely sure. But I know that most certainly isn't normal, and the best thing you can do is see a specialist about it at this point in time.

Oh no I'm certainly sure it's not normal.
As for a warning of them giving out and just dropping me, I have an inkling at times. If I'm pushed and hit myself hard, no matter where, I can expect my knees to not support me. If I'm on them, like crawling around, and there's something heavy on my back I can expect it then too. Other than that, nope.
Tumors talks and tearing have made my mind up. Time for me to go into a bitch fit and demand help. I'd take myself but my personal info needed to make appointments is under lock and key for security, so either way I've got to go through my parents. Thanks guys (:
