So I've been reading posts in here and I kinda get the impression some of y'all think cutting is wrong. How is it wrong? I don't think it's wrong.

Its wrong in the sense that you are harming yourself, it creates scars... If you cut to deep you could bleed out and die or need stitches. Its not a good way to cope or use for anything really. Im a self harmer, Im aware it isnt good but...

Well sweetheart, It's a horrible way to deal with emotion. Annnnd you are breaking your own skin intentionally. It's just not healthy for you.

As Nirvana said above, it's self harm. That in and of itself is a big reason many people consider it to be wrong. It can also be quite, erm, dangerous, considering the fact that it's very easy to misjudge the depth of a cut and to cut too deep. There's also the danger of infection each time you self harm. I've personally seen a lot of semi to serious injuries that were self inflicted because someone just went too far. Plus, as others have said, it is NOT a healthy way to cope with stress or your feelings at all. I'm a self harmer too, and I know it's not a good thing. I know how risky it is because I've seen it for myself and I've been there myself. I'm trying to stop--I'll probably fail still, but that's not going to keep me from trying to quit.

It's wrong in the sense that you have to hurt yourself in order to feel relief

But what is wrong with harming myself if I hate myself? I don't want to die or anything.

That's the thing, you shouldn't hate yourself. I do hate myself at times but in the end I really try to be happy. And self harm doesn't really help with achieving that.

So it's just morally wrong because there are no laws against it. But who is to decide morals? Everyone has different opinions on what's right and wrong when it comes to morality and ethics.

Well all right then. We have explained why we believe it's wrong (our opinion) and you have explained why you don't (your opinion.) Right and wrong is subjective, so that's your answer. We think it is wrong because it goes against our personal moral codes. You don't, because it doesn't.

But it should. According to everything else I believe, it should be wrong. But anyways I just wondered why y'all thought that way. Thanks for explaining(:
