I know it's not the newest thing, but I haven't been able to find a thread for it anywhere.
It's been quite noticable that Linkin Park has moved away from their nu-metal origins and in a more electronic direction, with lots of synth. What do you folks think of the style change?

They still sound good to me and certainly still have that signature sound of their's. I wouldn't call it a good change but it's not a bad one (:

I honestly hate it, I already don't like electronic music, so their new album "Living Things" was a huge disappointment, I thought they were fine before that. I hope they go back to making music like they did on "Hybrid Theory" and "Meteora" , those albums were awesome. Also, I believe the last song they made before "Living Things", was "New Divide" , I thought that song was great, so I can't believe they went from making songs like that to making horrible shit like "Living Things" , they're a great band they don't need that electro shit, it makes them sound worse, not better.

I am not sure how I stand on the topic. I loved Linkin Park's old sound as do most of their fans my age (19)... however, the new sound isn't bad. They are changing and that is fine a lot of bands/performers do change their style to try something new... this actually has the ability to hold aband together longer.
Coming from a DJ's point of view... Their new songs are now reqested at many school dances I do because of the electronic feel. I am not sure if they intended this but they are getting more popular with the younger crowd.

Yeah, they changed and I don't think it's a bad thing. Living Things is in my opinion better than ATS. When i heard it for the first time i was surprised, it was not what i expected, and many fans were so mad, like "wtf, this is s*it, what are they doing, i'm dissapointed" and stuff like that. I missed guitars and stuff. And i also didn't like music videos. It was nothing like LP we used to see. But I think they're back with their new album, which is great. They're my favourite band, and i'm a huge fan since 2007.

I respect Linkin Park a ton. My favorite albums of theirs will always be hybrid theory and meteora, but I don't see how anyone can fault them for wanting to evolve and change as artists. I think it was probably the best thing for them, seeing as they're one of the few original nu metal bands still around. I always hear people talk about how they should go back to their old sound, but that'd be the dumbest thing they could do as a band. Nu Metal is pretty much dead, and it ain't coming back any time soon. Besides, if they hadn't changed their sound at all, they'd be getting hate for putting out the same album all the time. (*cough* Disturbed *cough*) I've yet to listen to Living Things, but I'm sure it isn't too bad. Change isn't always a bad thing.
