Ahh, the great test.
What do you think of tests?
I think they're great, if done right. Country wide tests are a waste of time. What are they for? They aren't tailored to what the school is teaching.
However, tests that test what you are learning in class ensure that you have actually learnt the information. They are worthwhile.

Here in the UK we only get tested to show which level we are working to and to determine which grade we should get at the end. (Including coursework and depending on the course structure and level)
I like sitting examinations because I have the oppurtunity to write and show my understanding. Whereas with coursework it's too easy to go off topic and witter on about nothing.

Our exams simply give us a grade compared to the rest of the year.
I don't particularly like exams. They're a lot of work, and I'm lazy. Aren't we all :D?

Most tests are state wide, not country wide and the test are tailored to fit the individual state's core curriculum requirements which the schools are supposed to tailor their teaching to. So actually, the tests do reflect what the schools are teaching. If it doesn't, your teacher wasn't very good, because the teachers know what will be one the tests.

Tests are boring. They often make us remember things we will never use in the future. But tests decide what the future is like.

Well, country wide tests are ridiculously easy. I don't find them worthwhile at all.
No one at school actually prepares us for them.

In Pennsylvania, you have to take PSSAs...I guess they're sorta important as they test your skills. There's also ACTs and SATs, good for college.

Not exactly. Some people like me did prepare a bit for the PSSAs. My little brother took them (and still will take them) and he did some preparation. It's only because of our mom (we're Chinese). She wants us to do well

Well, no one at our school really cares about NAPLAN, it's just seen as a waste of time.

Whether we like it or not the SAT and/or the ACT are fairly important if someone is thinking of college. A lot of my next Sat. will be consumed by the SAT and I've prepared for it for just over a year.
It's not the most exciting thing, but colleges need an easy way to evaluate who they will bother interviewing for admission.

They can either help you out big time, or hurt you big time, depending on how well you know the material and how much the teacher weights the tests (at my school, a good chunk of the teachers make tests 60% of my grade :s).

I wish they would weigh test more heavily in SC then I would be passing English.

the SATs for Illinois are pretty easy but every once in a long while you will get a hard question
