Is it real music? Being normally it doesnt have lyrics... You dont use "instruments" but a thing of electronic devices to created the bass and sounds for it. Whats your take?

I consider dubstep music. my definition of "Music" is anything with rhythm and beat, which some dubstep definitely is. although others might say it isnt due to lack of actual instruments being used or not having vocals.

What most consider dubstep is really brostep. You know all those "dirty" sounds and dropped beats? Yeah, if you hear that consistently, it's brostep. If anything, electronic artists like Burial, Four Tet, and Venetian Snares deserve more attention.

According to the strictest definition of music - a series of audible notes - ye-es. But aesthetically? My brain doesn't recognize it as music.

No, i don't consider dupstep music. There are just random sounds that give some rhythm. Like transformers.

Everything is music just like everything is art. Doesn't mean all music and all art is great though.

Yes, dubstep is music, just like all EDM. Even though it's not really my favorite type of music, I respect lots of the people that make it.

That said, with all forms of music there's good stuff and really bad stuff. Doesn't mean it's all bad.

It's just a new generation of music. How do you think people felt about rock at first? I'm not a fan of it personally, but in about 20 years it will probably be way more popular.

Well, I do like Dubstep, and I do count it as music since it gives a rhythm and a beat, butt... Considering the fact that most dubstep songs do not have lyrics, and there really isnt any instruments being used besides computers, it is easily argued as not real music. Since it does give a rhythm and a beat, I count it as music.

I'd prefer it to something like Justin Beiber, but ultimately, I think it sux

Okay, why are there so many replies to this thread pointing out the lack of lyrics? Since when does something need lyrics in order to be considered music? I mean, by that logic "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" is not music because it has no lyrics O.o

I was concerned about that too. Mozart's Turkish March is music to me, I listen to it at least once a week, very catchy to me.

Other's have explained why it's music, but dubstep though is not my personal music. I feel like I'm going to fall over when I hear it.

Technically yes it is music, but do I like it? No. I personally think it is terrible computer noises that can be replicated with a dial-up modem, but that is just my opinion.
