Okay so I have had a crush on this boy for awhile.
I finally told him and he said we should see how it goes. So I decieded to put forth the effort and you know walk him home, text him and all that fun stuff. Gave him a little gift and he said he loved it
Now the thing is, he always seems to be a little distant or something weird.
Like just a few minutes ago, I wanted to take him out on an official date. So I asked if he wanted to go but he said he had to work. I was like...oh okay.
It seems I am putting in the effort for this and he isn't really which is a little frustrating to say the least. What should I do now? or should I even continue in the first place.
I was thinking of asking him what he thinks of me as now. and see how that goes.

I think you should talk with him about it. It could be because his worried about something or stressed, it could also be about, you know, things he doesn't like on the relationship or something else. There are lots of possible reasons so you should talk to him about it and decide if it's worth it or not. If it's not, then i'm sure you'll find someone better, if it is, then work hard, both of you, to make it work :)

He may simply not be as confident in his sexuality : going out on a date might feel intimidating to him. He may be shy or worried about how other people will react to you guys.

You do have to work at relationships and if he's not prepared to do so it will cause you problems over time : I agree with others saying you guys should talk about it if it continues to be a problem. In the meantime don't give up : give him a few days to think about stuff and he might agree the next time. EG my dad will always say 'no' to everything right away. If you mention something and come back to him later you'll usually get a more sensible answer.
