Well I have been cutting for almost a year now, and I want to stop one day for good. But my question is will the scars stay forever? I don't cut that deep, but I still have obvious scars. Will they ever go almost completely away?

Depends. Most scars go away after about 7 years. Very frequent scarring of the same area remains permanant for much longer, about 21 years. If you are still young then there is a good chance they will go away a bit faster.

oh my gosh, 21 years? So I won't be scar free until I'm what, about 36? What about scar removing creams?

I don't know where Nathan is getting his numbers from. That's not true at all; mine fade in a matter of months.

Almost all scar removal creams only work if you properly work them in to your skin. In fact, it may be better (less expensive and more effective) to make your own at home. You'll need some source of fat such as cocoa butter, then rosemary, coffee grounds and a little ground chilli pepper. These help promote blood flow to the area, which allows the scar tissue to be broken up. Basically you melt the fat and add the other ingredients. Heat them together on LOW heat for about fifteen minutes and then pour it into a jar or something. Use this twice a day consistently and you should start to see results.

I will try it, thanks Alex :)

Well scarring can depend on your skin type. I scar really easily and still have scars from almost 3 years ago that where no more than scratches. But that's just me. For the scars on my leg I've found bio-oil to be really effective. It is expensive, but one small pot of it is more than you'll need. Although depending on how bad your scars are, bio-oil may not make them completely disappear, but it will make them fade and be less visible :)

some fade, others don't, some creams work, others don't. It all depends of the type and the person, but by all means try creams

As said above, creams can work, and some scars do go away.
I used to look at my scars in hatred and would cover them up. I realized though, that they're marks from battles. Battles and hard times I went through and got through, maybe not in the best manor, but it's a reminder for me that I CAN get through the next battle, and this time without a razor.
The first step of course is to stop, it's hard but doable, and if you ever need someone to talk to you can VM/PM me. =]
