Rosco G

Hey, y'all. It's me 'Rosco' or Colt, again, with more questions than answers, as always.
Well, I'm almost 18, in the process of enlisting in the Marine Corps as I type this.
The reality of joining the military and moving away from home is actually not nearly as scary as I thought it would be, then again, I ain't been shot at... yet.
Anyhow, after I serve my 4 years in the Marines to get access to the G.I. bill to pay for college, I plan on moving to Texas for various reasons.
Let me explain the few problems I do have.
1) I've never been very far from my hometown for long amounts of time, I don't know how well I cope with being homesick. The way I see it, there's gotta be more to life than rusty beat up trucks and hay bales. I want to go wander the world and see all I can before it's too late.
2) I have some pretty extreme expectations for myself and what I want to do in life. I've been riding bulls since I was 11 years old and I'm getting good enough at it and love it enough that I think I would definitely benefit from turning it into a career. Yes, a professional, tough work, there's time I'll be so piss poor that I won't know what to do with myself but, I just want a shot. My backup plan/ secondary plan is any less extreme, if not more. I've been singing and playing guitar since I could hold a guitar correctly. Yes, I'm seriously considering trying my hand at Nashville, which is also going to be brutal when I first start, but I'm devoted to both of these ideas.
3) I live in a 'town' of under 2,000 people, everyone I know and love lives here. Other than virtual teen, I have pretty much no access to the outside world and I have no clue just how brutal it is.
4) I can't find a college I'd benefit from that I'd enjoy that's south of here, I hate cold weather, HATE IT, so moving north/northwest ain't an option. I've been looking into Sul Ross University in Alpine, Texas and it reminds me a lot of my hometown, except slightly bigger, they also have a PBR sponsored rodeo team, which will help me in the long run.
5) The day I turn 18 I'm headed to South Carolina for Marine Corps boot camp, I'll be in until I'm 22 years old. After that, I'll be in college until I'm 26, which I feel is an old age to be in college. I won't be married, probably not in a serious or stable relationship with anyone because I won't know anyone.
Pretty much, I'm starting from scratch and I REALLY want to do it, VERY BADLY. Am I dumb for wanting this?
What do y'all think of my situation?
Is it worth it?
Should I do it?
Is there any Texans that can assist me?
Thanks
Seriously, thank you all so much for taking your time to read this
