what pain? if you mean the doctor just cuts your foreskin off like he would an umbibical cord -that is, without any anesthetics- then your mistaken. they use some local(i think?) anesthetics to perform that minor surgury.

No, the frenulum is not supposed to be ripped.

As far as the skin bunching up, that's normal. When I pull mine back, it resembles a circumcised penis with a bunch of skin piled up at the base of the head.

Mine does that too, but I can pull it back. I think that makes us a bit on the long side, but not 'abnormal'. If it hurts to pull it back, or it is too tight to pull it back to clean it, then it could be a problem.

Yes, this is 'normal' as in OK. Foreskins come in different lengths, yours covers the tip when erect. As you grow, this might change a little, maybe not. But as long as you can retract it fully, it's OK.

Me and this guys have been best friends since birth and so we're pretty comfortable around each other. So, one day last summer, we were changing in the same room at a pool party. Now, we're both almost through puberty and like I said, I'm uncut and he is too. But I discovered that he can pull his foreskin back, but I can't do that. It comes up over the head of my penis and barely moves up and down at all. I asked a couple of my uncut friends, and I found out that their foreskin pulls back too. I had never even seen a head of a penis until that day. Is there something wrong with my penis? And is there something I should do?


You should be able to easily and comfortably retract your foreskin so that it goes entirely behind the head of the penis. If you cannot, it's a pretty common condition, about 50% of 15 year olds can't.

In the shower, gently pull it back as far as it will go. Do a little at a time, do not force it. This will likely take many weeks or even months to accomplish.

If you cannot do this, then the next time you're at the doc tell him. Likely, he'll give you some steroidal cream which will reduce swelling and move things along quicker.

There's a lot of stuff being propagated out there designed more to pursue some very personal agendas at the expense of a lot of guys sense of well being with whatever they have. I wouldn't worry about it. I was born in BC and many guys my age haven't been circumcised. If you are in Ontario maybe it's different, but I am sure alot of girls know about foreskin.

It's OK to be 'different', b/c it's just one small part of who you are. Eventhough it's your beloved penis, there's more to you than that, you are not defined by it. I know this sounds incredible, but it's true.

Guys are extraordinarily insecure, i think it's in our DNA, so whenever we realize a difference, we feel all weird about it, and either 1) Get very defensive about it, or 2) Want to change it to be like everyone else. 1) No, circumcision is not 'fatal' at an old age. As with any surgical procedure, risk increases with age, but typically, circ is a pretty straightforward procedure at any age, with low mortality/morbidity rates.

2) No, circ has no effect on penis size.

Circumcision is not fatal. People argue that there are both advantages and disadvantages to circumcision and some believe that it effects mental and physical differences in later life. Whether that is true or not I'm not sure can be 'proved'.

As you were circucisied later, they go through a slightly different procedure. But it's not much different. They are supposed to put you under a general anesthesia while you are completely asleep? So I don't understand how it hurt? If this wasn't done to you, then I have no idea why it wasn't. Maybe it's done differently where you are? And for elder children the healing process goes on for about 3 weeks apparently, but they let you out of hospital.

Oh and the thing your friend told you about is rubbish. Penis size isn't effected by what age you are circumcised at..as far as I know. :D

Do you mean if there's a cut in the foreskin? If that happens, it usually heals and everything is OK. iI you men 'cut=circ', then the answer is no, you lose the foreskin (obviously), but the feeling remains the same. There's no unique sensation from foreskin.

I'm not sure where you're getting this from. The guys I know who have been cut later don't report this at all. There is no unique sensation from foreskin, and the penis remains as sensitive. I think you might be confusing the loss of foreskin with the loss of sensitivity of the penis. if the foreskin is gone, you cannot obviously feel it. But, the sensation from the penis really does remain the same.

No. Erections at puberty are caused by the newness of all those hormones, which are the same regardless of foreskin.

The 'Sensitivity' you hear about with foreskin results from the glans ('head') being covered, and refers to non sexual sensitivity, like your hand, H2O in the shower, the errant hair, etc.

Tight foreskin is actually rather common, about 1/2 of all 15 y/o's cannot retract. This is typically resolved by gently pulling back on the foreskin in the shower/tub, don't force it, it will NOT retract for many weeks or even months.

Uncut is when the bit of skin that covers the head of the penis(foreskin) is left. 'Cut' is when that is removed, leaving just the head, no skin covering it.

In the shower (or bath) gently pull your foreskin back to the point where it just begins to hurt, and stop. Do this a few times, do not force it. It will take some time (months!), be patient.

If it does not get better, or the tightness interferes with either erection or urination, tell your folks ASAP.

The next time your at the docs, tell him and let him take a look.
