You have the people that want their kids to be 'like them' or 'normal' and sign off on having it done. I was asleep for the surgery, moderate pain for a few days after, then just discomfort. Had it on a Thursday, was back to school the next Monday. Doc said wait 4 weeks, I got bored and did it after 2.

I do not think "too much foreskin" is a medical issue rather it be just a cosmetic issue unless it interferes with excretion/reproduction. Are you self conscious with the extra foreskin on your penis? If you are comfortable with your penis, then there is no reason for surgery of some sort, if your parents are convincing you to get surgery, say no. On the other hand, if you are not comfortable with your penis, and surgery is the only option, please speak with your urologist/doctor about it.

You shouldn't worry about that. It's a normal thing, even if the majority of ppl aren't circumcised in Ireland. There are as many ppl in the world that are cut as there are uncut, so don't worry about it!

I don't know about other places but the UK circumcision is pretty rare.. Generally only medical necessity or religious reasons.

Yeah...even in the 90s, it was something like 65% cut on a national rate. Now, it's like 50%.

The influx of latinos in the western states are what is helping drive those rates down. There's also a lot of states which are cutting it from their health insurance, so that parents have to pay the full amount. When parents have to pay, they realize that insurance doesn't cover it and that makes them think if it's really necessary, or if it's a cosmetic thing.

With younger people, especially in those western states, it's largely becoming a thing to keep the kids as-is.

There's also a lot more education about what really goes on. It used to be advertised as "something which must be done, as it's useless skin and it can hide dirt, etc." Now there's easily-accessible videos of circumcisions and people can only watch part of it before they have to turn it off and realize that's something they don't want to happen.

Plus, when the kid is older, he can decide for himself and they can use pain medicine then. (The cream they use now, they don't allow enough time for it to take effect, it doesn't fully block all the pain and there's a huge warning on it not to use on kid's junk or near open wounds.)

FWIW, better terminology would be "loosely circumcised." You're circumcised, but they left a lot of skin remaining.

As long as it doesn't hurt, you're safe.

I'm uncut. Boys are very rarely cut here in Europe. I don't think it makes much difference. I've talked about it with my cut best friend. When I get hard the foreskin kinda rolls down and exposes my head. The only difference is when soft.

It's my understanding that people who are circumcised at birth in the USA, sometimes they get pain meds, but not all the time.

However, a popular pain medicine for circumcision is called EMLA cream. Read the precautions on the top right. "Use on intact skin at least one hour before routine procedures and at least two hours before painful procedures."

This implies two things.
1) The moment the child is circumcised, the skin is no longer intact.
2) If it's supposed to be used two hours before painful procedures, how come most circumcisions take 15-20 minutes?

Maybe they use anesthetics instead? or some sort of quick-work shot? I don't really know why it takes that long.

Idk what part of the US you're living in, but did you know birth circumcision rates are actually dropping? Two of my best friends are uncut and they aren't considered freaks. Even so, being uncut is technically how it's supposed to be anyway; if anyone should feel like freaks it should be cut guys.

From what I've heard, a lot of cut guys feel left out, like they're missing something.

I've heard stories where a mom/dad will have a son and he'll be circumcised. The next son(s) might be circumcised and the last/youngest son(s) won't be circumcised. The big fear is that the kid with the foreskin will feel odd, but it's usually the opposite like a "thanks for not doing that to me!"

It's easy to feel weird if you're uncut, but in reality, as said, that's how it's supposed to be. That just means that your parents wanted you to have the decision what to do with it.

As someone mentioned, you have phomsis. You can try stretch while showering. I heard a cream to apply to loosen the skin. If fails, you'll most like need circumcision .

I agree most of your points except it's cleaner. The doctor who performs the procedure tell you because they earn top dollar for each procedure. Uncut penis needs to retract it and wash daily.

Really i think that is wrong about the doctor because i am cut at 10 year old i am still remember the doctor say to my dad " A lot of dirt around my foreskin"then my father see to my foreskin what the doctor say is true. The doctor say my penis maybe not clean correctly so the dirt Attached to the foreskin.After i cut i dont has to pull the foreskin again for cleaning my penis by enxperience circumcision does not hurt only felt like an ant bite then you will fell so comfortable to do many thing like when you peeing you just wash by the water or wipe with tissue to the head of your penis.

From what I've heard, lube is really common in the USA...as is circumcision. In Europe, where having foreskin is really common, almost no one uses lube.

The foreskin provides natural lubrication and a natural sliding motion.

I believe the companies that make lube recommend circumcision, but maybe that's false...IDK.
