Gateway is shit. Do not buy one. Please, save yourself the trouble. Dell is alright, better for business processes. In my opinion, HP makes really good laptops. I have not had one problem with mine and it can run almost anything I throw at it. ASUS (not Acer) also makes good laptops, but those are more focused towards gamers.

What drew me to the Gateway was that it's white. I love White laptops.
I considered Mac because of Facebook Interrogation, but I'm sure there's programs for that.

I had a gateway that I had had for for about two and a half years. I had so many issues with it. It was constantly getting fixed. I got in April and it works wonderfully. So much better than the gateway.

Never base your laptop choice on color choice. Try not to base it on minor physical properties that don't affect performance.

Yes, well.
I like White.
If I'm paying for a laptop, it'll be the color I want. xD

you do realize that, almost every brand of computer has a white one right?.

Dell is ok. I like HP's business laptops the most, though. They seem to be durable and reliable. My school uses the ProBook 4510s and the 4530s.

Basing a choice on the color is ridiculous. It just is.

I haven't had Gateway, but everyone hates them so I'll hop on the bandwagon-- No Gateway.

It's more about the laptop meeting the specs you need than what brand it is. After that, the brand is just a name.

[my HP laptop] can run almost anything I throw at it.
Same thing I said above.

It's impractical, but not ridiculous.
There's no point in getting something great, hat has an appearance that makes you sick.

What about Sony VAIO?

Sony is like the Apple of Windows computers. They're nice and pretty, but actual performance comes at a premium.

I like the way they look, but reliability is a concern for me. My mom had a VAIO from 2002 that only lasted 6 years. I say only because that thing was rarely used. Probably a year out of the 6 years was actually spent using it. It died while I was working on homework. Just died. The keyboard wasn't even worn.

I support looking into Sony.
