my periods are finally starting to regulate after being on the depo shot for 3 months. anyways this is my third period this month of september and it really hurts like i feel like my insides are being ripped apart. i already understand the concept of the ovaries shedding the lining and thats why you bleed. but why the cramping. whats this caused from.
girls shares your experiences
are you in the same boat as me to the point you cant move?

The cramps are because the uterus, not ovaries, is contracting itself to shed off the lining inside of it. The stronger the cramps, the more your uterus has contracted, according to doctors most women shouldn't be able to feel their cramps. I call bullshit on that since we all seem to get them in a varying degree of pain.

Sometimes my cramps make me never want to move, sometimes they're more annoying than a pain. A year ago I felt them in my back, only once, and it was horrible, pain was too strong I threw up.

Mine was irregular until I went on the pill this time last year. Before when I had them (Every 3 or 4 months) I didn't have any cramps at all, but now I have horrible cramps. I've spent entire days laying in bed crying because the pain was so bad, sometimes even with Midol.

Yeah my problem is i have been on several types of birth controls
so my period may never be normal
my mom recommended i get a d&c done
basically its a day surgury where they scrape the uterus and clean out all the excess lining... Painful but worth it
im kinda scared tho

Don't worry this is normal. I get really extreme cramps too, to the point of curling up on the bathroom floor unmoving.
They'll pass after a while, it really helps to fill a pillowcase with uncooked rice, tie it off, and microwave it for 1 minute/until it's warm. Put it on your cramp area and it's really relieving.

I've had cramps sporatically, but not to the extent you're describing. If they are that bad, I'd say go talk to your doctor about it.

I agree with Taryn...see a doctor. I'm regular and there's discomfort, but not terrible pain. Maybe I'm just lucky?

It sounds like you have dysmenorrhea, a condition where you get exceptionally painful menstruation. I've had it in the past, and it's awful. You should go to a doctor and see if they can give you any pain pills that might help. I've also heard that raspberry leaf tea will strengthen the uterus, meaning that it doesn't have to contract as much or for as long.

I found out this year that I have endometriosis, and it hurts so violently bad so I would suggest seeing a doctor, he put me on birth control and it helps a little but still usually by the second day I'm in tears
