i have been seeing my doctor for 2 weeks and taking strong antibiotics for my bronchitus. shortly after starting, i developed some bad itching and burning in the exterior genital region. i looked it up and antibotics can cause a yeast infection. i've been putting up with it and just trying to keep things clean with soap and water but it hasnt improved. i'm thinking i'll get some over the counter vagasil, which will treat the discomfort but not the infection. i'm wondering if i should tell my doctor, a guy, who i just recently started going to who would probably prescribe an anti-fungal cream, or take vagasil until i get off my antibiotics and it goes away by itself. its not like anyone is going to see down there anytime soon. what do you think?

if you have an infection down there its probably better to see the doctor. that way you will be given something that will clear up the infection. if you feel uncomfortable showing a guy your problem, maybe you should see a female doctor?

Definitely speak with your doctor about it. The doc could give you something to clear the infection or could try to find something else for you to take for the bronchitus. Either way, don't leave it.

i told him and he just said take the over the counter medicine. i worried that he would ask to check it out, i would of course say no but i would feel very awkward. it was a little awkward, especially when he asked about discharge from the vagina, but it wasnt so bad. i feel much better with a doctor's consent to use the medicine than worrying that it would somehow kill me.
so thanks for the advice!

You can usually go to the pharmacy and get over the counter meds for a yeast infection, usually an oral capsule to treat the internal infection and a cream to treat the external itching.
But yeah, if you're not sure, I'd definetly say talk to your doctor about it. :)
