View Full Version : Motherfucking Porn Block on My Wifi!

On my router there is a little green LED light that informs whoever that the Netgear "parenting safe mode" is on. I can't get around it because there is a security key. If somehow I got the password I wouldn't be able to disable it and go onto porn sights. I know what your gonna say: "Do it when your parents aren't home." That's the problem. My mom has a Netgear app on her I-Phone that I suspect will notify her if it is turned off.

It's not just porn. It's anything to do with guns, drugs, alchohol, etc. I am a huge gun person and can't even go to Remington, or Beretta, or colt.com without it being blocked. And I don't want to approach my mom about the gun thing because she will think I have been messing with the block.

BTW: I have never been caught watching porn because of how careful I was.

What the FUCK do I do???

The one wifi password that I know is to a network that is too slow.

Just ignore it. I haven't watched porn in over two months and feel really proud for that.

Dude, it's porn. It's not going anywhere.

It's tricky. There's several things you can try, one of which is to use a different DNS server, which you can actually sometimes find in your router's settings. It should be somewhere in the "DNS settings", and it's not the address that looks like "192.168.x.x".
Otherwise, you should try to see if there are HTTPS versions of those sites, as the encryption should be able to get around the mechanism. The last thing I can think of is to use a proxy, like Tor to get around.

Good luck.

I never watch porn because I can't afford the problems it might cause my computer. It won't kill you to not watch it either.

I'd just use a proxy.

There are a few options here:

Tell your parents to get their heads out of their asses
Get rid of your wireless router and conned directly via your LAN
Use a proxy or VPN
Try to connect to neighbour's wireless
Disable the parental settings
Get another modem from your ISP, and a router and hide it

Tell your parents to get their heads out of their assesI agree-
I wouldn't mention the porn but mentioning that it blocks legitimate firearms related sites (which they're presumably OK with) could help persuade them.

Get rid of your wireless router and conned directly via your LANProbably won't work.
Use a proxy or VPNFrom a technical standpoint this is your best option, but mind you streaming/downloading video through these systems is often difficult or impossible. If you're trying to get video keep in mind Tor will be slow for that and (AFAIK) not work with flash player and other proxies will probably be just as bad.
Try to connect to neighbour's wireless
Get another modem from your ISP, and a router and hide it
You shouldn't do these two.

TheMatrix's suggestion is also a good idea; try using Google DNS. It really depends on how the filtering system works.

Tor has a download on their site which allows you to just download and run.

have you tried using your neighbors wifi?

Just mention while she is away if she could turn the block off via her iPhone because you wanted to look at guns or that you were doing a drug and alcohol project for school, and watch your porn whenever!

Yeah, proxy/VPN is your best bet. But it can't hurt to try something quick like checking for an https site.

(Connecting directly to the modem) Probably won't work.
Why not? That's what people did a few years ago back when most houses only had 1 computer and no mobile devices.

The only possible issue is your mom could notice the connection had been lost through her app, and then she would ask questions.

For everyone suggesting Tor or a proxy, those don't work for video. Also, Netgear probably blocks those sites too. Proxy sites are usually blacklisted.

Sorry, I misunderstood the post as just connecting to the router via ethernet; connecting directly to the modem would work assuming the filtering occurs on the router. This would of course knock out internet to the rest of the house.

You guys make this too complicated

Go get yourself a wireless router. Plug it in between the Netgear and the DSL modem.

Connect to that wireless router, you'll get the full internet, and Mommy dearest will never know.

But if you're wasting time on porn, there's something else you could be doing with your life. Better to build something, go somewhere, fall in love, write a book, or study hard, than to spend your time on having sex in your mind.

That's like going to someone's house and just running an extension cord over their fence to steal their electricity. You wouldn't want that to happen to you, no?

Have you tried not watching porn? It's not a big deal. Also, don't worry about any other random site that you can't access. It's your parents internet, they're paying for it, they're allowing you to use it. Don't be a whiny bitch.

Jesus, no porn? That really sucks! There are ways to get around it, but you'd need to do some configuration on the router itself, or your PC. See if your able to download the tor browser bundle (look it up on Google...), if you can, you can unpack and use that to browse porn.
