Stop for a second and ask yourself a question.
Who in this world do you care about the most?
Now, put yourself in this situation: You have a choice to sacrifice yourself to save that human/animal, and if you don't you will live and the human/animal will die.
There will be a few people that will believe the RIGHT answer is "I will sacrifice myself", but what is the REAL answer?
Truthfully, there is no right answer.
But, I will say, those who will in the actual situation, sacrifice, are an odd end of the earth.
We as humans were born as cavemen.
We as humans kill to be right.
We as humans will always protect ourselves first.
Think about this for a minute- a person tries to commit suicide by jumping into a lake and holding their breath. Now- without dead weight holding them down, the person's body would automatically turn over and get air; even after the person has passed out.
Our bodies- our instints- they are all bred for our own survival.
And even our minds work for our own survival- you or someone you care about?
Be honest with yourself after reading this-

As much as I'd love to say I'd sacrifice my life for my boyfriend's, I truly don't know what I'd do until I'm in that situation. I'm hardwired to live, like it or not, I'm aware of that.

At this point in my life I think I can certainly say I'd die for him. I'm not sure I'd be able to live the same. Mental anguish and trauma, feeling like I killed him because I'm alive, emotional anguish and trauma, probably wanting to scream and cry when I see one of his sisters especially the youngest, trying to deal with my parents and everyone around me feeling pity, I'd probably commit suicide soon after the ordeal. So yea, I'd jump for him is how I feel right now.

I would die for anyone. It doesn't matter who they are. If there is some shooting going on in the school, I will go and try to stop it. I seem to be able to make friends with hurt and outcasts. If I get shot then I will. Better me than anyone else. Seriously, I try to live my life by that Air Force Pararescue motto-"That Others May Live"

Even though I don't want to be a pararescue, more of an aerial gunner or engineer, I still try to follow that motto. It is a good one and It truly is a good thing to think about. Also I have to live by the AFJROTC Core Values-
Integrity First
Service Before Self
Excellence In All We Do

That makes me have some comfort. I WILL Die for anyone. As long as they get to live.

If we're talking about that person (or those people) who I care about the most? It's not even hard for me. I would give up my own life if it would save theirs. Putting the people I care about first is something that just comes... naturally to me. I'd like to say I would die for anyone, but I would be lying. If it was a person I knew, maybe. A person I cared about, most certainly. But someone I don't even know? I hate to admit that I'd probably be a selfish bastard and keep my own life...

I would rather die than live without someone I cared about deeply. Which is rather selfish but that's how I feel. I don't mean it in any sort of heroic way, but really because it's worse to live with sadness than to be dead with nothing at all.

It would take alot of bravery to kill yourself for someone. most people would consider one insane to do that. I don't know if I could do that.

If it were for someone I couldn't live without, I sure as heck would try to sacrifice myself.
