Just curious, what do you guys think?

Would it be possible for someone to have suicidal thoughts without knowing it? For instance, I cut myself but don't really want to end my life, it's just too much at times. Would you think someone feeling that way could have suicidal thoughts and not realize it?

I think it's possible and that there is a lot of evidence pointing towards subconscious suicidal thoughts, even in people who aren't depressed. However, your cutting analogy is frankly offensive. Cutting is a coping strategy, just like music and chocolate and booze.

I didn't mean to be offensive, actually I don't see how it is offensive. I said I cut myself because my life is too much sometimes. That sounds like what you described: coping.

But you implied that cutting is an expression of suicidal thoughts.

Oh. I didn't mean to. Just wondering if it could be possible for me to have suicidal thoughts and not know it. I do not believe cutting is an expression of suicidal thoughts, though.
