Recently our old modem or whatever wasn't working so we gota new one. So basically the one were using now works fine with everything else but with Xbox live its a different story.

Every time I log on to my account it dosent connect so I have to disconnect, put the password in and then it usually works

So after that I just go to play halo reach or something and I can barely find players, It keeps on disconnecting from Xbox live in the middle of the game. It's really annoying what's happening here. It just keeps on disconecting.

I really need some help on how to fix this problem because I can't even play one game without disconecting from Xbox live.

Note: this only started happening when we got the new wifi modem.
PLEASE HELP!!!!:(

well if your not using an upgraded modem that may also be the problem
try diagnosing your internet connection from your computer
'if your using wireless on your xbox you may have to get an ethernet cable to keep connected. try that and see if it solves the problems
same thing has happened with my ps3 in the past and i tried an ethernet and problem was fixed and PSN didnt keep booting me off

yes modem
in technical terms a modem is what is used for ethernet not direct wireless and a router is what is used for wireless connections

alright well in that case you can either directly hook an internet usb into the back of your xbox or use an ethernet cord hooked from the back of your router to your xbox but in my opinion i suggest using a usb. its also easier. i dont know if you have one but if not they can be easily bought

No, a modem modulates and demodulates the cable or DSL signal to provide your connection, whereas as router enables you to share that connection. You can connect to a router with an ethernet cable if you're close enough.

XxAssasiNxX, they are not the same thing, so when you ask for help it's important to use the right word, otherwise we can't help you.

Go into your router's settings and forward these ports:

Port 88 UDP
Port 3074 UDP and TCP
Port 53 UDP and TCP
Port 80 TCP

Let me know if you can connect after that.

Do you mean a mobile internet stick? Those cost a monthly fee for the data plan and still doesn't solve the OP's problem with his router, and they have a lot of lag for gaming. Or do you mean an Xbox 360 wifi adapter? I'm assuming he has one of those already if he's connected to his router wirelessly before.
