hi mods
i understand this forum is for asking questions and getting advice but i have noticed that alot of the threads(mainly posted by boys in the boys threads and sometimes the girls are getting a little too personal and there are alot of vulgar title threads out there. it seems lately these threads have been getting out of hand. my mom sees some of the topics that are posted and my sister wants to make an account but my mom wont allow her as long as their is naturally intended dirty content. could ppl possibly stick to using proper words ex: instead of cock= penis and vice versa etc. i dont know if theres anything to be done about it but i just thought i would point it out
thanks

Here's my take on it:
The fact is, people have the right to freedom of speech and expression. I know this isn't much of a big deal but this also isn't going to reach everyone on the site, especially not the hardcore p101ers.

You could make that section of the forums hidden, go to:

User CP  Edit Options. Then scroll down until you see "Forums To Exclude From View". Then click "Puberty 101".

This is what I would do

While a lot of them may seem to be vulgar or offensive (which they very well can be taken as), they aren't exactly rule breaking and most do ask legitimate questions. You could hide those sections as other users have explained to you.

I can agree with you that most of the titles can seem a little vulgar and can be taken in an unsavory light. Yet there is really nothing us moderators can do about it as long as they are asking legitimate questions. Even if we were to make a rule regarding it, it would be very hard to maintain and a lot of extra work for us help section mods as a lot of threads are made in the p101 sections. It would also become confusing for the original posters who made the post.

Overall you can hide p101 like others said above as that is the closest thing to fix the problem.

This is a site comprised almost exclusively of teenagers, on the internet. It is almost guaranteed that with a P101 section, things will quickly take a turn towards what some may call "vulgar language". And I'm not going to deny it, there is plenty of colourful language and "improper" terms used. But again, we're all teenagers. There's no hiding from that fact -- we're going to get exposed to vulgar language one day or another -- we don't live in a utopian society(see George Orwell's 1984) where these things are hidden from us.
If you don't like that, well, I'm afraid VT isn't for everyone.
