Tonight was my first time cutting. It kinda stings but not really, I didn't go too deep. I've just been so depressed lately and used a razor on my thigh.

ouch! keep an eye on it. cleanse it
dont let it get infected
in the mean time try something more soothing instead of self harm like reading a book, watching a movie, talking to friends, hanging with family; or try writing down all bad feelings in a note book. try and take care of yourself!!! :)

Make sure it doesn't get infected. While I'm not a cutter I still know how hard it is to stop when you're hooked. Your best bet is to stop before it becomes an issue. But I'm not gonna boss you around. Do whatever helps you.

This site isn't about making people feel bad for the choices they make. It's about helping them through it.

Please don't harm yourself. It really is hard to stop. All of us are here to talk. Depression is a struggle, believe me, I'm there. But cutting is only going to make you sink deeper. If you want to talk about it, please contact me.

I'm sorry you started but it's only been once, you can get out of the hole now instead of digging yourself in deeper.
Find other outlets, some ideas could be: exercise, scribble on paper, music, cook, rip up paper, write it all down as a journal/poem/story. Clapping your hands until it hurts and snapping a rubber band are also good methods of release but be careful that you don't start using them too excessively or make them harmful.
Talking to someone about what's bothering you, what's making you feel depressed could also help as well. In my opinion it's the best method, getting your problems off your shoulders whilst also possibly being on your way to getting some help.
Just know that self harm isn't the only option and it's by far one of the worst. Just try and find other things while you can because you'll regret it if it becomes an addiction that feels impossible to get out of.
