Talk?

Do you ever want to talk to people about cutting? I always think it would help but the thought of judgment or if it leaked out is too much :(

I never really talk about it to anyone but my therapist and these wonderful humans here on VT. My friends know I do it, but choose to ignore it because it sickens them. If you would like to talk about it, you can message me any time. I'll listen. :)

VT is the perfect place to talk to anybody about any issues you have. It's a supportive, genuine community.

Yeah, I can relate to wanting to talk about it. If you feel yourself not trusting anybody, you can try keeping a journal. Doesn't have to be writing entries, it can be drawings, or anything you'd like. I trust art therapy more than I do any other kind. Also helps you express what you want to say, but can't for some reason.

And as everyone else has said so far, we're all here. :)

I've told my two best friends and my youth worker but every time someone brings it up I just feel awkward. My parents finding out made it even worse, I just sit and cringe and hate myself even more.

Although online, like on VT, I'm a lot more open about it. I don't mind talking to people because quite often they've been through/are in the same kind of situation.

VT is a great place for letting it out. It's a safe community where bashing or judging isn't tolerated on the forums.

As has been said if you want to talk anyone here would be open to that, especially in the psych ward. You'll find vt to be a warm friendly community always happy to help.

Personally when I was at my worst the only people I talked to was vt. I'm not very open and I don't like to talk about my feelings and things in fact my doctor, nurse and case worker told me I was incredibly awkward and not forthcoming in that respect. So whilst i'm not always up for talking about my problems I do however like to listen to others and try and help them.

So yeah basically post around people will be willing to talk, if you ever need anything feel free to get in touch

One of the hardest parts for me is getting the courage to talk to people about it- I don't want to hurt anybody or make anything worse for myself or them... but every time it's worth it for me.. I know I need to talk.. just like you do. if you feel like you can't talk to anyone up front, you could always PM a few people on VT, or contact a helpline like Samaritans etc. Or sometimes writing a letter to the person you want to tell, instead of having to face them, can do a world of good. Let us know, how you get on if you do decide to talk to anybody.

if you want to talk to people around you, then you should go for it :) i've found that there are a lot more people willing to talk then you'd think, and it really does help to know that theres someone there whenever you need them

i am so shy but i built up the courage to talk to someone about what iwas going though and it helped, before that i hated the thought of talking to people about it because i thought people would judge me, now dont get me wrong there are people out there who will judge you for it but they arnt worth it... and if u talk to like a counsellor or a chaplian or someone like that they WILL NO judge you because thats there job to help you... people here on vt will aways be willing to listen and help the best they can.. if u ever need to talk im always here, just pm me xx
