Why mum and dad?!?!

Hey guys,

So since I was younger I've always wanted some percings and tattoos but my parents never let me because they thought it was filth, but now that my parents know that I cut myself they won't let me do it because they consider it self-harm! So I need your input wether you think this is reasonable. Cause them saying that got me super pissed.

Since the skin is broken during the process, I guess tattooing could technically be considered self harm to a degree. That said, I don't know how old you have to be to get tattooed where you live, but you really shouldn't be getting a tattoo anyway, at least not anytime soon. Just wait until you're older, not only will you be able to make the decision on your own, you'll hopefully be better educated on it too.

Okay, here's my take on it.
Tattoos hurt. I loved getting my tattoo.
Cutting hurts, but in a twisted way I love that too.

Tattoos and piercings, while a self-harmer can turn them into an unhealthy high, are still so much more than just mutilation. They're art. I think your parents don't know what they're talking about.
