At least 15. I'm gonna be 15 before too long and I don't think I'm near ready yet.

This is more of a debate than a puberty question
Puberty for Boys  Ramblings of the Wise
Personally I think 16, any age younger than that and it can be a rushed or immature decision. However to be honest if a teen is wanting to have sex they will do so regardless of what the law says.

Really I think it depends on the person but I would say not younger than 14 or 15, but it depends on how mature and/or ready the individual is.

Whenever you're emotionally mature enough able to deal with the possible consequences. I think that's different for everyone. I'm 19, and I'm not even near ready, but I've got 15 and 16 year old friends who've had it and seem to be alright.

I don't think there should be laws that dictate how old you need to be to have sex. If one is ready to shag, allow them to shag.

How about when you are ready to deal with the consequences of your actions both emotionally and physically. If you ate not able to give that child that may result from intercourse the house it needs, food, education and clothing then I do not think you are ready. Condoms only work a certain percent of the time....so don't always trust....it is safer to know for sure.

I say at least 16, just because that's when a majority (not all) of teens are able to better understand things, their brain's section for decision making and comprehension region (forget the name of it at the moment) is more developed than it was the previous year and they can better weight good and bad. That's just my personal feel on it.

Depends on the person. And when you're ready emotionally and physically. But personally I would say 16+

Well I was 14 when I lost mine but for most people id say 15 or 16
**disclaimer** I did it at 14 because me and my gf were both physically and mentally ready.

18-24 I think that you should be able to be not only phyisically and mentally ready, but financially ready as well. I would want to be married though since it would be my first time then.

14-15. I'd say at least half of people lose their virginity around then no matter what the law says, so it might as well be legal!

18. I don't get how drinking is legal later than sex.

In all states its different, and it is also different in other countries.
But if you want to ignore all that. It is when ever you are psychically and Emotionally ,
ready for that change to happen.

I think its up to the people who are gonna have sex to decide.. you mite be 14 and know your stuff.. i lost mine at 14 and i dont regret it.. but now that im 16 its hard looking for a chick out there that will trust you enough to let you have sex with her, with out her thinking that your gonna have sex and leave..

In an ideal world I would lose my virginity at 15+. Yeah... not how that one worked out. I think it's more of a maturity think but on an average most 15+ year olds should understand the risk and have the responsibility for it.

I'd say sixteen or seventeen.
Most of the posts correspond to the age of the poster. However, I feel that it should only be when both partners are responsible and ready emotionally and physically. STI's will be more commonly spread when people believe it is okay to engage in sexual activity at a younger age. Relationships are not steady while in adolescence, and we all know it's true.
It's much better to wait. Then you won't have any regrets.

I don't think that the law should really dictate when people can have sex, except to prevent minors from being exploited. I think that people should have sex when they are ready and can deal with any potential consequences. There really isn't a right age in my opinion, but if I had to pick a number I would say somewhere in the late teens.

17 should be the minimum. Any younger should be punishable by death.

hmm thats disappointing after talking to me for even just a bit you havent really figured out my thinking. but yeah. thats my opinion and im sticking to it. of course like people under that age would be able to have like blowjobs and stuff but intercourse would be enforced with that rule, in my ideal world.

Sixteen on average but I don't think it's a definite age. I think everyone gets to a suitable age at a different time. Some bimbos should wait until they're 25 when their brain has properly developed. Others will be able to handle it at sixteen. I was raised to not dare think about dating until I was sixteen, let alone have sex. These kids are growing up faster than their maturity can develop.
That being said, my consensual virginity was lost at fifteen. :P But you know, I don't regret it. In an ideal world, I would have done things differently. But that's life.

Like most people have already said, I think that it should only be when both people engaging in said sexual activities are mature enough. Everyone is different and I don't think that the legal age matters as nobody follows it. I think that the idea of having sex at early ages being cool should be targeted. People should wait until they are truly ready (and hopefully in a relationship) before they have sex as opposed to doing it at the first opportunity presented regardless of circumstances. Most people in today's society forget that sex is as much an emotional connection as a sexual one. In the end we can talk about this as much as we want, however nothing is going to change in either direction as long as the current attitude towards sex continues.

I'm in the "when you feel ready" camp.
"Sex" covers a range of activity. I think it is very healthy to experiment so I'd say 'any age' for a lot of stuff. Full on penetrative sex involves trust and consequences for both straight and gay sex, so I think that shouldn't be rushed into, but the only people who can say they are ready are the individuals concerned.
A horny young kid might be pursuaded to do something and then regret it, but then I just think thats part of learning about what you like anyway. Adults regret having sex with people for all kinds of reasons so I'm not sure there's really a difference.
This is why the law usually worries about "consent" i.e. whether you can judge whether you are ready for yourself. In the England the "age of consent" is 16, but actually that only really matters when having sex where at least one of you is over 16. The law is actually that 13 is the youngest you can be mentally developed enough to say ok to any sort of sex so anything below that is rape / child abuse.
