Anyone actually like it? I mean compared to even the earl 1960s Darts its far from being like them... The late 60s and early 70s with the Dart GTS' and Swingers putting 440s and Hemis in them they were mean! This 2013 Dart has a 4 banger... And no you cant fit a Hemi in there! I dont like them, other than the grille. :P Thats it.

UGH! NO!
The commercials, well yeah, they're creative, catchy and even kinda funny but the car it's self? What the hell Chrystler!?!
Looks nothing like the Dart, it ONLY comes in 4 door, a friggin' V6? What?!?!, generates under 300 horses... dumb.
And this is why i wont even bother buying anything Chrystler made after 2005...

I don't really like it, but you have to realise that it's not meant to be a new version of the old dart, they're just reusing the name dart.

I think for what it is (a compact econo car) it's pretty amazing. The little fiat engine in it sounds meaner than any other four cylinder I've ever heard. It has a deep throaty growl to it that puts a lot of six cylinders to shame. Not to mention it's styling is easily the sexiest of the compact car bunch.

I don't really like em. I like the 60's ones or 70's ones more

Like what SuperSuraj said, the car isn't meant to be a replacement for the original Dodge Dart. That was a muscle car, this is just a cool commuter car. I quite like it. The interior and instrument cluster is nice, the styling is cool, and although the engine is not powerful, it should be a fun car to drive.

I actually do like it. I love the fact that it comes standard with a 6-speed manual, which is a pretty big deal for Dodge. I wasn't big on the styling at first, but I saw a few in a showroom and I now think they look very good. I do think it needs to just stick with the 1.4 turbo and the 2.4 4 cylinders, and add a bigger engine soon, possibly the Pentastar V6 from the Chargers/Challengers/Avengers.

A much better plan would have called it the 2013 Dodge Neon. That's what it is! It's a compact 4 door car with a 4 cylinder engine. And there's a srt4 version coming out. Anyone else remember the 2003 Dodge Neon srt4? If they called it a Neon, people wouldn't say how it's a cheap pile of plastic with a muscle car name. Instead they would expect it to be like that.

Chargers and Challengers only have V8s... Avengers I think they have a V6 but there a odd ball thing in my book so I dont know. :P

They couldn't call it the neon. The dodge neon had the reputation of being a car that continuously broke down and didn't sell very well. The dart has a positive connotation, it sounds like something that would be quick, sporty, fun to drive, economical, etc. The average eco compact car buyer would not even know there was a previous Dodge dart, the demographic that they are trying to reach are around my age, high school/ college students looking for their first car. The name is more of a marketing gimmick than a successor to the original dart.

Wow, I didn't think of it that way. But yeah, I agree.

The Neon wasnt that bad. The little V6 or 4 banger in them held up well and Ive seen them around here running good. There ugly... SRT-4 is nice. But the Dart isnt umm economical, the original one atleast. But most kids today dont care about muscle cars, they dont know what they are being they only go after crappy imports, put a muffler on and a cold air intake and call it a drifter.

I know, it's weird to think about, but car names have a lot to do with marketing. That's the same reason they couldn't call it the Caliber. Same negative connotation :P

The neon was pretty appalling compared to it's competition. The SRT-4 was good but nothing special. The current Dart gets 41 mpg highway, that seems pretty economical to me. But I agree people don't care what they drive anymore, the passion in driving is completely gone in most of America.

Chargers and Challengers come standard with a V6; 305HP on the Challenger and 292HP on the Charger, given both are 2012 models (2013 Charger has 300HP). V8s only come on R/T and STR8 models.
The same V6 is in the R/T Avenger with 283HP, along with some V6 Jeeps.
And I agree they should have called it the Neon, although that may hurt sales as many people see the Neon as a cheap, unreliable car.

They seriously have V6 in the Challengers? Dodge Im appalled! I need to catch up on stuff, Im stuck in the 60s and 70s on this stuff.

I like Japanese cars when they're nice. An example of a nice import is something like a skyline r32 or 34. Not to mention Silvias. But when you get a '94 civic, put somee leaf blower turbo in and install a coffee can muffler then you're just a rice burner. onto the neon discussion... I wouldn't mind having one. I would buy one for like 500 and fix the engine and body. ( I would refferbish the body with stock parts only though. No street glow tail lights or anything like that.

Yeah its just sacrilege haha. My dad has a 2011 Charger with the V6, and its actually a great engine, but paired with the ancient 5 speed auto its almost never in the power band. I mean, it holds first gear til 55MPH. At least the 2012 and up V6 Chargers have an 8speed auto which actually makes it pretty lively.

I dont like the 8 speed autos... Its only 8 speeds for economy... I dont cruse that much!

It actually makes the Charger a full second faster to 60MPH. But yeah. For some reason they limited it to 114 with that transmission... And its turning only like 2400rpm at that speed in 8th gear. Read that on Car and Driver a while ago i think.

I actually like the new Dart, I like it's v6, I have always thought small cars with small engines were a blast to drive. I love the throaty engine noise, and the chuckable handling behind them. In this case, I prefer the new Dart.

Its a sham and an embarrassment to the name.

It does seem odd to see the name used again. Of course; most younger people don't really know much about the old version. I do because my Dad had one for years....a 1965 with the 273 cubic inch V8.
Chrysler was so innovative mechanically back in those years. Mechanically the cars were great; the body quality not so good.
I've yet to see in person a new Dodge Dart.
I should go look at one.

Saw one for the first time in person recently. Doesn't really look that bad. Though the interior does look cheap. I know it's an economy car, but it would have been nice if one V6 was offered. I wonder if they'll offer an SRT version of it?

And by the way, who cares how many cylinders it has, horsepower and torque numbers are what matter. Chevy Impala SS (5.3L V8) made 303 hp while some 2.0L 4-cyl Mitsubishi Evo models cranked out 400 hp. Stock.

I've driven it... It was amazing. There was basically no turbo lag and the manual gearbox was superb. I hate American cars but I will admit that the Dart is amazing. Nice interior too.
