You know how sometimes your audio jack breaks and you get only one side working on the jack or no sound at all? Well I had to repair the wire to my headset temporarily the day after I bought them and I'm waiting to get the $17 my mom owes me so I can get new, stronger wire to use for the permanant repairs.
I'm thinking that I could install a switch to allow toggling mono sound. yes I know it may short out and I shouldn't play with live current but what do you think about this feature? useful or not?
Okay I tested it and it works, for some reason the negative and left terminals have been switched on her laptop. but its great to have a working mono toggle for when I need it :) But still, what do you guys think?

only one side of my sisters headphone jaco dosn't work on the left side and I'm too lazy to risk fixing it, so I made a mono toggle so I can have both side working in mono on my sister's laptop and in stereo on my 3DS I can't keep track of more htan one pair of headphones.

It's not the same voltage as that from the mains, of course. If you do mess up, you probably will blow not only the amplifier in your sound card, but perhaps the power supply's fuse, and in extreme cases, the mains fuse.

well I do have them working :) but for some reason the negative terminal is working like a positive terminal and the left terminal is acting as a negative terminal, which I don't understand but it works with one wire on the supposed to be negative terminal. I'm happy and it works perfectly fine. :)
Basibly all I added on was a switch connecting the two possitive terminals. and the negative terminal is a bare wire so I had to put some electrical tape on that to keep it from interferring with the other wires. to me it makes sense that the output on the negative terminal would be the same as it would be with monosound toggled off as it would be toggled on. there really wasn't any special cicuitry involved for this procedure.
This is just temporary wiring, I'm gonna clean it up when I get the chance do some clean wiring.

the white wire is that replacement wire I had around and the black on the other side of the wihte goes to my headset, the black wirei n the middle is a bare wire I insulated with electrical tape and then on a end where the wire shows a bit I have a wireo n the switch wrapped around it then the other wire on the switch is wired to the left channel of the headset. the spare wire if the right channel

Exposed wires...looks risky. Is that desk made of metal? Make sure not to let the exposed parts touch them, or it's going to be a trip to the computer repairman to replace the sound card.

no, I was using the freezer as a desk, my desk is a nice wooden one. lol, i got a really nice pair of philips headphones today from the resale shop and the transmitter was issing, so I wired them up with a reliable heavy-dutriy wire hooked up to an audio plug. Its pretty nice, I even insulated it this time! :D
