Thoughts on the new iPhone?

Personally I think that is (well it seems) a massive improvement on the 4S and previous models, which I think that it needed to be because of the massive let down when the 4S was released.

Just hoping that the glass and aluminium that the phone is made out of wont be as breakable as the 4S.

So yeah, what are your thoughts on it?

Technically, the preorder starts Friday and is released on the 21st. But I think it'll be great. :)

Disappointed...:

Not that great. Most top of the line Android phones have had those features for months. But of course it will sell millions still because of the name. Se meh. I'm not worried. I'll stick to my beautiful Samsung Galaxy S III.

I'm happy with my iPhone 4. I'm going to stay with it for a few years yet.

Disappointing, Apple's magic died with Steve Jobs.

Meh it's just another apple product. Not nearly as capable as the competition, but Apple has superior marketing. So come launch day there will be many many activated!

I wouldent buy it. The problem with apple is that they arrent really doing anything new, they are selling expensive phones that can do tha same as every other phone on the market. Problem is that its SOOOOO UNCOOOL to be a sheep like everybody else and just buy the popular phone to be part of a croud. Its sickening, just as an iPod is a horrible MP3 player. Why buy shit just because its popular, why not just buy something good and cheaper, instead of something expensive, fragile and poor in quality

In all honesty, I believe it's going to be a better phone from the iPhone 4s. I know people hate Apple, but can we be reasonable for a second? It's one hell of a reliable phone. It's simple, fast, and has a variety of apps. You don't have to worry about which phone to get and looking at all their specs in detail, like you do with Android phones. It's simple, get iPhone, get apps, you have smartphone that runs apps on appstore.

It's an amazing upgrade to the 4s. It's still behind other OS though, I feel. Yes, Apple doesn't release it until it's perfect (or so they say *ahem* death grip on the 4) but droids have other features the iPhones don't. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my iPhone 4s, and I would love to get the 5 for all it's upgrades, but next year around this time, they'll release the 5s with minor upgrades, and then in 2 years, the 6.

While still better than any 'droid crap, it isn't as good as I expected.

I'm far more interested in the amount of time they put into the hardware than the software. The hardware is beautiful and I hate when people say it looks the same. They basically took the design of the iPhone 4 and kind of "redesigned" it if that makes sense. But, I think they should've bumped up the screen a tad bigger to be more competitive and kept the old aspect ratio.

However, iOS needs to change. They need to replace whoever is the head of iOS and revamp the home screen. And get rid of the damn leather and the horrid pinstripes.

This is a good way of putting it. With an iPhone, you have one option. It's why the Model T was so successful. Henry Ford said something like "You can get any color of Model T, as long as it's black."

With Android, you have a larger phone size. Some people think a smaller phone is better, but I think that as people start to view more and more movies on their phones, they'll begin to appreciate a larger size. Carrying around a 10" (or larger) device may not be feasible all the time.

There's also something good to be said about mini-USB, which Apple chose not to use. If an Android user gets a new phone, the mini-USB is standard, so it'll automatically work. With this new iPhone cable, you have to buy a whole new thing.

Look at it this way: When the original PlayStation and XBOX were released, part of the reason they were so successful was because they could also play CDs. I think those devices could also play DVDs as well.

Nintendo 64 was a great system as well, but it lacked a major selling point...the universal standard of CDs and DVDs. Same thing with GameCube, IIRC.

I wonder how many apps it would have if it ran Flash. Android phones don't need a YouTube app (even though it has one) because you can just go straight to YouTube and press the "play" button, the same way you can with a computer. I know of at least one other website that is the same way.

The iPhone is a great phone if you want something delivered to you. However, I think the time draws near for them to seriously reinvent things. Replaceable battery? Battery lasting longer than 10-12 hours? Tapping your phone to send to another phone?

I'm sure they'll have OS 6.1 or 6.0.1 out soon enough. Typically the early adopters can expect to run into various issues, and that's apparently what's happening.

Pixel is size, not quality, or at least that's how it was described in a photo class I took. A lot of people think "more pixels" means "better quality and a clearer photo" but that's not true.

4G is fantastic. It's a shame iPhone 4 or 4S didn't have it, but iPhone 5 does, and that's what counts.
