This is a question about art, im not a painter but i have to pait for art so question for the many painters out there.. How do you paint dirt? Like.. Layers and layers of dirt

I don't think this can be answered precisely without seeing an actual example of those layers of dirt. Share a photography, this would greatly help.
How I'd do it also depends on the kind of paint you are using (oil is very different from acrylic or watercolour, for example), the size of your canvas, the type of tool used (a wide brush? a thin-pointed one? A trowel?) or the deadline, to name a few parameters.

I know this is late, but my guess is sponge painting for it? I think it would look more like dirt if you sponge paint it.

Well back in the old days we used to get some dirt and put some paint on it, although I am unaware what you young rapscallions do these days.

o_o haha I almost choked.
I would definitely use a sponge. It would give it a gritty texture as well.

Ahahaha! Wow that made me laugh, and i was on the bus.. So i looked like a fool.. Haha im not dirt as a medium :lol:
