I'm skinny, for I'm perfect for nutrition and all that and perfect weight for height.. 118 pounds and 5'8 height, i'm 14 right now. Well I really wanna gain weight I've been trying to eat a lot more and I will eat more for 9th grade than my 8th grade year, but somethings that I'm not sure is that I'm still in puberty, it's been like a year and a half since I started and I recently learned that I can't gain fat weight even though if I eat a as much as possible, basically because I'm still growing.. so i pretty much got the gym to do so I'm asking how many days is perfect a week for people our age, my dad is teaching me what to do (benches, pull ups etc). if you guys hit the gym what do you do for how long and how many days and have you progressed?

Thanks

This is exactly me. My parents were good when my weight was picked up as an issue and got me doing ballet and gymnastics really young then I changed to swimming so I've built up pretty good muscle tone, so I have some decent shape now. Most of my year is taller / bigger but I'm not the skinniest now at least, and although I don't have huge biceps or anything I do have decent abs and tone.

Gym can be good, but to bulk up you want to make sure you are working all the muscles, not just the vanity ones. When you do some gym exercises you may not activate all the underlying and related muscles which all contribute to 'bulk'. For eg there are dozens of muscles and attachments for your shoulders, so to get broader shoulders you'll actually need to do a whole load of different exercises not just (eg) lat pull downs as some guys try. So consider doing something like I mentioned (swimming, gymnastics etc) which will work more of your muscles out, and flesh you out more than over-specific gym exercises. A good gym coach (and many are clueless imho) could help with this.

Don't forget your diet : you should talk to your doctor to get advice that is right for you. Its not something you want to just take internet advice on because you are still growing and you may even need additional meds and supplements.

Hope that helps.

You don't get buff just from putting on weight and hitting the gym, if you wanna get buff you're gonna need to have most of the food you eat to be protein and complex carbs such as pasta
NO CRISPS ETC. they're empty calories
