Sounds like a plan, just don't trust a random care package of food. *Cough. Mi-24. Cough*

Anyway, I would probably go about my business until the invaders decide to give me grief.

Lay low. I'm not a person who stirs up trouble so I would probably just wait it out. If at any point I felt threatened, I would take my brother and make a break for it.

Run to the country who conquered me and apply for citizenship.
Or gather all the guns, bombs, ect and hide out at some base after evacuation all my peoples so I can go out with a bang. If they conquer my country, chances are they are going to jail me for life, make me a slave, or kill me, so I might as well die killing the bullies.

Edit: Oh crap, I thought this was another one of those "you run the country" type threads.
I'd get all the guns and ammo possible and go live on my aunt's farm. Then go out fighting if they tried to arrest me and/or kill me.

Move to Europe, preferably Russia, Italy, Germany, or France :P

I'd move before it got to that point since it's easier to flee when your country isn't in as much chaos. New Zealand or Australia would be my first choices.

It's fight versus flight and if you're overwhelmed by the invaders it may just be smarter to run, even if you're considered a coward for it. Especially if it's a country with bad intentions taking over. Just look at the Holocaust; If you know you're going to be sent to death, self preservation takes precedence over fighting. Smart people got the hell out of Europe before the Nazis gained control.

If you're all for standing your ground for the principle of the matter, good for you, you have more conviction than I ever will, just don't whine when your homeland is taken over; You made your bed, you sleep in it.

I wouldn't really care to be honest
There is no way in hell that a country, especially in Europe, can be invaded without consequences for the invaders

If your country were conquered and you were not in a position of power, there would be very little you could do.

Few of us are revolutionaries. Take the Mongol invasions in the 13th century, near half of Hungary's population died, China was conquered and millions were killed or died of starvation and disease. And China was/is a very big place. Take the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia, the indigenous Australians of Australia - whom the majority of which were killed under European invasion.

Yes, the likelihoods of states like the US, UK, Australia being conquered is low and yes if it did happen, the invaders will most likely face severe consequences (after having done their damage and most likely continuing to do so cause what're they gonna do? Bomb the country?) But let's ignore that for a sec and say you truly were invaded.

Refugees risk their lives to get from country to country (only some countries have signed the agreement to accept refugees) and many of those people die in the process. And it's not going to be as easy as jumping on the next flight because

a) Prices will skyrocket and you'd have to be really damn rich to get a plane
b) The conquering nations won't be dumb enough to not secure the airports and every other mode of transport
c) Taxi drivers, pilots and sailors will be running for their godamned lives, too

Now, say you did manage to walk a few hundred miles then get on a leaky boat to your destination - refugees spend years in detention camps before they're accepted or rejected. If you're rejected, you get sent right back after 3 years of living in a cage.

Say the US was invaded - that's 314 MILLION refugees. There're a little over 190 countries in the world. So each country would have to take 1.6 million people. Many of them don't even accept refugees and therefor are not obliged to. The ones that do don't even accept half a million. Most countries won't even accept a refugee boat of 50! Australia intends to accept 200,000 soon and that'll make it the biggest refugee-accepting country per person. So 1.6 million?

Many countries might not even want to get involved, not wanting to destroy its relationship with the conquering nation.

Apply for citizenship? Oh yeah. Because when the US invaded Afghanistan they were like "Lol guiz, we won't blow you up if you become an American citizen." As you can see not many people give a crap about civilians like us. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civilian_casualties_in_the_War_in_Afghanistan_(2001–present))

If you were conquered, you wouldn't be able to chillax and go on with your day-to-day life. You'll be too busy worrying about getting shot in the head, enslaved, kidnapped, raped and worse.

With that being said, I agree that there most likely would be nothing that we could do, especially as teenagers :P

As much as I would like to say I would lead a revolution and have a militia in the wilderness ready to attack at any given moment, I probably wouldn't.

I would move the heck outta the U.S before they start to over-run the country (I'd probably go steal from a bank and bring a few friends or GF (if I have one then)) along too. lol First choice, the U.K, japan, or somewhere modernized and speaks english.

Nah, too much hassle. This country did nothing good for me nor its other inhabitants. It can rot. I'd just move somewhere else.

I agree the U.S is going downhill already. I just want to move to the U.K or Japan

Everyone forgets that Canada, is a major safe-haven. I would go up farther north in Canada, maybe take a few jeeps, maybe an Esclade, and have them towing a lot of supplies for survival. Including, lots of protective layers, lots and lots of food, lumber making supplies for a house, either that or raid and steal a house. Go to town, take hundreds of generators, a gas stove, and some various others, and take them back with my cars. Especially take refreshments, and definitely a fridge/freezer combo. Install plumbing, go on well water, use the generators to run it. I would take my ex, basically kidnap her and save her from her doom, and some of my friends too. Btw, look at earlier posts, and you'll see my feelings about my ex.

It's all about death man. We are all going to die anyway. This may sound like YOLO, but think about it. Something SHOULD remain behind you as your legacy after you die. Or there should be something people that reminds of you to people. Or well your death should be something climatic.

So if I die as a rebel leader or something, yeah, I'd like that.

Just look at the Holocaust; If you know you're going to be sent to death, self preservation takes precedence over fighting.

Not all the Jews in Europe knew that such a terrible thing like the Holocaust was going to happen. Sure, the Jews in Germany knew that there was something going on when in 1933 all Jewish businesses were boycotted and other restrictions against Jews and non-Aryans were implemented. But there was still no public information on the death camps because the Nazi's wanted to keep it a secret for obvious reasons.

Smart people got the hell out of Europe before the Nazis gained control.

As said above, not all Jews in Europe knew that their fate would be doomed if they stayed in Europe. A good amount of Jews in Germany did escape to the United States, Central America, South America, Palestine (now Israel and Palestinian territories), and even China. But even for the ones that tried to escape, not all of them could. Out of the 300,000+ emigrants that applied to flee to the US between 1938 and 1939, only about 85,000 successfully got in. Some other countries had restrictions, also. This is how it all went down between 1933 and 1940 with German Jews immigrating to other countries:

Implying Canada's military won't be utterly obliterated, demoralised, or won't have surrendered by the time their neighbour and the world's most powerful military is defeated.

Seriously, did you even think that through?

Do you even know how huge and remote Canada is. There are many places in Canada you can camp out, and how many native tribes you can live with, did you think that through? No, you didn't.

Any military which successfully conquers North America would scour pretty much all the inhabitable territory, to root out resistance, etc.

Russia, maybe, but do you think n. Korea would scour the northern most tips of Canada. No, Iran, no they're in a desert, they won't want to scour through the cold.

One does not simply conquer the Netherlands. :P

But if you do, you can get, like the maybe-somewhat-heard-of saying goes, all the cheese in the Netherlands. And yes, there is plenty of that. Heck, we have whole museums dedicated to it.

No, not all knew, I never claimed that everyone knew; I'm also aware that some were denied entrance to safe countries. But some did see the warning signs and refused to leave and/or didn't even try; That's what I was getting at, leaving when you see signs that something is wrong. Sorry for not elaborating earlier :P

however if the invaders are the ones causing trouble, like torturing people or something, I definitely will flee...

Alright. Lets see if my powers are still intact after my long absence.

Depends. If the country who invaded me was democratic and free, and they treated me with respect, then I'd really be fine with it. However, if they tried to oppress me, my rights and my family...
