I've seen this on other forums. You post a thread, and the other members can ask you questions.

Members diaries contain "ask me" thread of exactly what you described. For example my "ask me" thread is located here (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/showthread.php?t=135216).
To have an entire forum or to allow somewhere like the white padded room to allow them would be pointless and annoying. If you really want to get to know a user you can talk to them or if you want your own diary you can apply for one or if you become good friends with a diary owner then you can ask them if they would be kind enough to let you create one.

I agree strongly. Although people already have "ask me" threads in diaries, only about 25 out of nearly 7000 active members have diaries. Having a section like this would be a great way to help people get to know each other more. When people know each other better the site becomes better. I can personally say that 3 years ago when the site was smaller and I knew everyone, I enjoyed my time here a lot more than I do now, when I really don't know to many people. Its not like theres less people that I would like to be friends with, it just there are so many now it is hard to know who is who.
Not to hijack the thread, but I propose that this section be added to the Introductions forum.
I don't see any disadvantages to this idea, I strongly support it.
