(again, my apologies if this isn't in the right category, wasn't too sure where to put this)

But, okay, so, a few days ago, I got out of finding myself in a state of being depressed. I don't want to say depressed, since I've never been diagnosed, but yeah. I mean, I just moped around all day, and put no effort into anything, I either stopped eating or ate a ton, and all that. Sometimes my memory can be foggy, but it's been like that for awhile. And some other things, but I'll move on.

I can go about a month and a half of being alright, then I'll be in that kinda state for a week or a week and a half. It seems like it's been happening for a few years now. I also know that my mom had depression quite a few years ago, if that's any important.
Basically, I wanna know, is it 'just the hormones', or could it be something a tad more serious?

I know that I should probably talk to a doctor, but that's hard to do when you don't have insurance and all that. :P
Thanks in advance :)

Well considering your mom had depression, it could potentially be more serious than hormones, as depression can run in families (I know from personal experience). And that may be a contributing factor in that. But teenage hormones are just as whacky as depression as in what it can do to you and hormones could also be a part or all of this problem. I really can't say which one it is, but it isn't something that should be ignored. I would just watch it for now. Evaluate what makes it happen, when it happens, what are you thinking about, etc. Maybe in a notebook or something and record it a few times and see if you notice any patterns. If you do then it could really go either way. Say for example you notice it's right after you get yelled at by a parent or something. That could be a combination of hormones and depression. If there isn't any pattern, then it's probably just hormones but I can't be totally sure. But in either case, talk to someone about it. Let it be your parents, friends, doctor, psychologist, etc. But don't just ignore it. Good luck Brice. :)

Sorry for the super long post. Lol.

That's the problem. Like, some of my "episodes" or whatever you want to call them are caused by stress from moving or something of the like. Most of them come from out of the blue, nothing triggering it, and then I'm down. As for a 'pattern', it seriously does seem to happen every month and a half or so and I'll be down for a week or two.
I'd talk to the doctor or tried to get referred to a psychologist, but, we don't have insurance, and I usually don't get too personal with friends and family.

Gracias for the response, I appreciate it. :)

*edit*- Trust me, if I could get into a doctor or something, I'd take the opportunity. My last episode really did scare the heck out of me. I want to make sure it doesn't happen again.
