View Full Version : Who's a better poster?

Someone who posts more often, but doesn't put much thought into their posts, or someone who only posts when they feel strongly on the topic? I personally think that freqnt poster is the better member, as they offer more advice. However, I hardly ever post unless I have something important to say, as you can see by me joining Nov. 8th 2011, but only having 331 posts. I don't know. Your opinions? ~holli

I agree with you there, but remember that some mindless posting never hurt anyone :)

Some one who posts more often. I think.

The latter. Because if it's crap advice, it isn't advice.

Would you rather dig a gem mine to find a lot of small and poorly formed gems or one large daimond?

One that puts in more thought to their post.
If a poster got up to (enter number here) only posting "lol cool" regardless of the topic, basically spamming, that doesn't help many people. I'll take the poster that has only 4 posts filled with thoughtfulness and a purpose, over the "lol" spammer.

I think the one with more thought wins, hands down. I'm a spammer, but I know when to be serious and put actual thought behind my posts. I've seen a lot of your posts Holli, and you can tell you take your time, put genuine feelings behind your words, and give the best advice you can. I wouldn't worry about the numbers.

Like certain people who sometimes post on a thread saying "oh don't think like that." especially in something like the mental crisis section.

Really? You LIKE the spamming? To me its worthless especially in the example you described, in a mental crisis forum if someone says "dont think like that", if it were me i'd probably think "no shit sherlock, hadn't thought of that!" that being sarcasm of course.

^He didn't say he liked the spamming. I'm pretty sure he was agreeing with Z that the latter choice (less posting) is better and giving an example of crap advice.

Out of those two options, the latter. But, I believe the best posters are the ones who can have fun and enjoy themselves on here and get serious when needed. Option one posters are fun, but rarely serious and can hurt some unintentionally if not careful. Option 2 posters may come off a bit boring unless they frequent the shoutbox, chat, arcade, ect.

Someone who puts thought into their post, even if it is one at a time, rather than manufactured garbage.

If you knew what I meant about my 'last post' rule in my diary, you'd know my standpoint. :P

I hate it when people just crank out answers that really have no meaning, or seemingly just trying to get the most recent post. I know, i'm guilty of it too, but I try to be helpful.

Quality over quantity. I remember people better by their quality of posts because it touches a deeper nerve than someone who just spews a lot of 'shit' without thinking. Sometimes though, you can have people who have both quality and quantity, a few do come to mind, not many though.

I think that in many cases, people need good well rounded advice. I commend those who can offer as much advice as possible however I prefer quality over quantity (not to say that quality goes down as frequency increases for all posters). If you really want to help someone out, you need to consider their issue fully and draw a conclusion / suggestion from your understanding of the issue. With more time this gets easier and thus in my opinion results in more helpful responses.

I only post to help people with good advice! If I see that I don't know what to say to that person, or I really can't help, then I don't post! Simple as that!

I think that the ones who have great quality posts are the best posters. Even if they post once a day maximum. However, we need the ones who post multiple times so that threads don't die.

I tend to be a frequent poster and I try to put in lots of detail into my posts if I feel necessary

I think the frequent well though out posters are better.
