I am sorry for you guys that cut yourselves… I am really sorry for you. Sometime I'm sad with my life and want to hurt myself, but I know I just can't… it would be too hurtful. TOO HURTFUL. But some days I just wanna not be born, I want to be dead. But listen, all of you guys who cut or hurt yourselves, don't. If you guys weren't living, life wouldn't be the same without you. For example, say of Steve Jobs killed himself when he was little… we wouldn't have apple products, we wouldn't even kno what apple is. We'd probably have something like apple but it would be called something else. What if one of YOU out there could invent something someday? I don't really know exactly how it feels to cut yourself since I'm not a cutter but, think about what I said. All of you are important in life.

I appreciate the thought, but please don't tell somebody what to do if you don't/haven't personally experienced it. "Feeling sorry" for us does not make people who self harm feel any more better, that's pity. It's a long struggle and there's no way that somebody who has been self harming for a long time to just suddenly stop. It's an internal thing, it goes beyond just a few scratches when you're sad. In general, giving somebody advice on such a hard issue when you have never gone through it, is not a smart idea. I hope you never go through it, and I'm happy that you can control your emotions better, or at least have some kind of healthy release. Not everybody does.

I think that post deserves some BAD REP.

I've never self harmed [as far as I can tell] And correct me if I'm wrong, but Self harm is like eating a meth-soaked weed brownie of pain. Eventually the emotional pain of family/friends/shit gets too much, and you cut yourself... and I think the pain just sort of dissolves away with the blood... sort of... and it makes you feel better... I think. Maybe you feel better because you are in control... or maybe it's a cry for help... or all of the above. Or none of the above. IDK. I'm not eager to try it myself... As I said, you're eating a meth coated weed brownie here  Once you do it, It gets addictive and you wanna get the same escape feeling again. And soon enough... you're addicted. And the more you cut... the harder it is to stop...

*sigh* Oh wonderful. Another random person who has never been where I have been, telling me what to do. I am not trying to kill myself. And you are mistaken. Thank you for the effort, but I Do Not want your sympathy. And another thing. We are not merely 'cutters' We are boys and girls, men and women, fat, skinny, medium, mentally ill, perfectly sound, gay, straight, single, in a relationship, depressed, happy, we are people. Not cutters. We are people. Address us as such. Good day. ~holli

As much as I appreciate the sentiment, the posters above me are right. You shouldn't comment on something that you have zero experience with, and cutters/self harmers are NOT trying to commit suicide. Admittedly, suicide ideation and SH can appear in the same people often, but if anything self-harming is a way out of suicide.

My god some of you come off are assholes. It's easy to correct the OP's ignorance without being an ass about it.

OP, thanks for your concern. Stopping is not as simple as you wish it to be and not all are suicidal, but your concern is nice. Though, I can see how one can see SH as trying to commit suicide because most shows and movies display SH as cutting of the wrists, but it's more than that. Read around the forums a bit if you want to understand it a bit better.
Cutting is an addiction and difficult to stop. I hope you never go through it.

Edit: To whoever neg rep'd me, I don't care if you're offended. There's a way to politely correct someone with good intention like Beth or Alex did without coming across as condescending or sarcastic.
