Ok so I've looked everywhere and it says that masturbation is a sin. Do any other Christians (if there are any) on here agree with that? Cuz I have been trying to quit by its just so addicting!!! I feel soooo guilty after mbating and promise myself that I'm going to quit but th farthest I've gotten is a week without it. I just get so bored sometimes and have the urge to masturbate. Also are there any other Christians on here that masturbate???
Thanks

Back when I was a christian, my counselor explained that it doesn't mean "don't masturbate".
She interpreted it to be don't have sex when you're not married, and don't use birth control as a married couple. She said it means, what's left in a condom is a waste. It's going to be thrown out, it should've been used for babies, if you have sex it's solely to make babies with your husband and only your husband no one else. If a woman's on a pill or something else, that sperm's also wasted. It won't be able to fertilize the egg, and the woman's basically a giant trash can for sperm dumping. Wet dreams can't be helped, she said, so masturbation is alright...because it's not sex and "keeps away temptation". Nothing's being wasted, because it's not serving a purpose, like sex is for making babies. She was annoying but it makes sense.

I'm a Christian and I mbate everymorning and usually every afternoon. I think it's no biggie and you can't quit. I don't even think about decieving God when doing it. it's better than having sex and getting pregnant.

My view is that it is a bit of a sin, but a lesser one than having sex. In the way that you are only corrupting yourself and not anyone else with you too. I don't think it would be a sin if not for the fact that we are not supposed to let a lustful thought cross our minds.

Omg, of course it's not a sin. Everyone does it, it's a physical need of ourself.

I'm Catholic but masturbate all the time. It's perfectly normal to do it and according to the Bible, all man are sinners. If you ask God for forgiveness, it will be granted.

There is nothing wrong with it, everybody does it.
Religions hate anything to do with sex and will try to make you feel bad for liking it.

Where did you look? I am quite sure the word 'masturbation' is not in the bible
If you refer to the son of Onan that wasn't masturbation: he was supposed to be fruitful and multiply with his wife (or wives, I forget) but disobeyed God by pulling out and not cumming in her/them
It's natural and God made our bodies capable of it
Do not accept anything without questioning it- did the info come from the bible or people who are prudes, puritans etc who consider naughty and therefore a sin because that's their belief and they will twist scripture to that purpose without thinking it may be wrong

I actually hate religion for many reasons, and this is one thing. Masturbation is a natural part of life and nothing should interrupt nature in its course. Religion basically moves nature to the side and says "screw you, I'm in charge now no matter how fake I am", and it screws with peoples minds.

I deal with that too >.>
Since I'm a christian, I feel guilty about it but... I think it's better than having fornication and so on. I'm not too interested in marriage, but that doesn't mean I not having sex- though I'm waiting for the RIGHT one to have this special relationship.
I thirteen and masturbate :) and christian, though, people do say it is a sin for touching yourself and should wait until marriage but... I don't think I can wait fifteen years to get married and masturbate :/

It's not a sin, there is nothing biblical against taking care of yourself- everyone does it so we must all be doomed? No!
It's the stuff attached to it- lust is a sin
Are you suggesting in a Christian couple having fertility trouble that the man is sinning when a doctor requires a sperm sample?
It goes back to old fashioned prudes that wanted to control everything - scaring boys by telling them they would get hairy palms, go blind etc
It's nonsense

Hi, the clearest and most effective writer on this subject is St Paul. In his view, sex is part of our human nature, and is pleasing to God- but only within marriage where it becomes a positive force, as it engances humsn love. God, as St Paul clearly states-is love and He therefore delights in all things that act to produce it; indeed, this is what He designed sex for. All gratification solely of the self and not in giving to others takes the soul away from God: it is therefore unfortunately a sin. It is very hard to see how any other argument can be made.
Of course if you are not a Christian, none of this applies.
Indeed, very little is known about the universe for certain, and the efforts of our best physicists have had so far a very limited success. The nature of the universe is largely unclear, and as to whether it has any purpose or meaning, completely unknown. Put another way, We do not know if there is a God: and we do not know whether masturbation is good, bad or of any importance whatsoever!
Answer your question?!

I'm not a Christian but I think it's quite clearly a sin in Christian terms. Masturbating is a very selfish thing and thinking lustful thoughts is a sin. In the bible it says the sexual immoral will go to hell which I think includes masturbation with the reasons I gave above.
I'm Catholic but masturbate all the time. It's perfectly normal to do it and according to the Bible, all man are sinners. If you ask God for forgiveness, it will be granted.
It also says in the bible you need to repent, meaning turn away from that sin (stop doing it). If you keep doing it, your not really sorry are you?
It's not a sin, there is nothing biblical against taking care of yourself- everyone does it so we must all be doomed? No!
It's the stuff attached to it- lust is a sin

Not everyone does it and how is it taking care of yourself? It's not food or drink, you don't need to have it. Sure it's fun and very enjoyable but it's certainly not a neccesity. It's a desire that can turn into an addiction. Perhaps thats why God wouldn't want us to do it.
To answer that question, I'm not sure it would be a sin (It probably is). I do know that Christians believe God is in control and they should be trusting in him. God makes all things work together for good is what it says in the bible.
By the way I'm a pastors daughter, which is why I know so much about this stuff.

without getting into all the theology aspects of it; if you feel that it's not wrong you shouldn't be worried. My mother when she gave me the "Talk" told me it's normal, and don't feel wrong for doing it.

as far as i know its only a sin in christianity for males.
for women, its only a sin to not have control.
nothing wrong with masturbating itself

it's not a sin - lust is a sin but you aren't always really thinking lustfully when you do it.
even the 'Onan' references for guys that are traditionally used against masturbation aren't against it - they are about disobedience and Onan wasn't fapping he was pulling out during sex

i am pretty sure its a sin but i've known that since i started a LONG time ago.. i used to try to quit sooooo hard and when i finaly gave in I would cry. it made me feel dirty and slutty, which back then i hated.
so NOW i just do it anyway, bcuz i know I will. im totaly addicted and do it more than once every day. i do lots of other sexual things that are probly way worse, so if i am goin to hell then im goin.
when i am being honest i do still believe 100% that its a sin.

I don't think God would have given woman a clitoris if it was a sin to make yourself feel good by masturbating. after all the only physical purpose for the clit is arousal and has little to do with actual reprodution

I had a long talk about it with the wife of our youth director at church. She said it was not specifically in the Bible whether it was a sin or not and that it could be a part of sex play in a relationship that is really fun. I asked her if she did it and she admitted that she did and her husband liked to know when she did.

One of the reasons I decided to separate myself from the Catholic Church was because of it's views on sexuality. Yes, the Church decrees that masturbation is a sin, but is it morally wrong? Does it hurt yourself or anyone else?
As long as you keep yourself safe while you do it, masturbate away! For example, make sure you clean down there regularly as well as making sure your hands are clean, especially if your sticking your fingers inside yourself. Properly take care of any toys you use. And if you're new to it, be extra careful not to damage your vaginal walls.
Not only do I think there is nothing wrong with masturbation but it's also healthy. Masturbation is a very good way of relieving the sexual tension that builds up over time. It's also a good alternative to people who are single or who's partners are unavailable for sex or for people (usually younger) who wish to avoid the dangers and repercussions of unwanted pregnancies of STDs. Not only that, but sex therapists frequently prescribe masturbation as a way for females to achieve orgasm.
Not all that long ago masturbation was regarded as a perversion and a sign of a mental problem, now however it is seen as a normal, healthy sexual activity that is pleasant, fulfilling, acceptable and safe.It is only regarded as a problem when it inhibits sexual activity with a partner, is done in public or causes significant distress to the person. It may cause distress if it is done compulsively and/or interferes with daily life and activities.
Despite the fact that it is considered a sin by many cultures and religions, some experts suggest that masturbation can actually improve sexual health and relationships. By exploring your own body through masturbation, you can determine what is erotically pleasing to you and can share this with your partner. Some partners use mutual masturbation to discover techniques for a more satisfying sexual relationship and to add to their mutual intimacy.
Depending on your age, some of this will not apply to you yet, but bear it in mind for when you're older. Despite the views of some religions, the way you find pleasure and joy in your body is no-one's concern but your own and no-one has the right to make you feel guilty about these feelings and urges.
Hope this helped.
Love,
TDD! x x

i don't think masturbation should be such a big deal especially when you're a teenager. if you really think it's bad, then try to reduce the amount you do it. don't quit right away. just gradually wean yourself off of it.

The Bible says nothing against male or female masturbation
Lust is a sin, but that doesn't mean mbating is
The Catholic Church is not God and do not speak for God - they just say they do, which is of course a sin because it's a lie - the Pope after all is just a man, not God or Jesus on Earth - they just claim that he is during the duration of his 'term of office'
It is natural, healthy and prevents sin you could say
