It happened so long ago....

Well, where to start? At the beginning I guess..

This happened around when I was 14, so about 4 years ago now.

To this day, I have only told this to the people who matter, but I need help coping with it now.


4 Years ago, during some hot weather, I decided to go swimming in the local river since the pools were shut. I asked my best friend of the time, and she decided to come along with me. We got there, and we got in. Now the river is only a small river, and lots of kids going swimming in it, I guess today was just unfortunate. The current pulled her under, I tried to lift her back up but couldn't get a grip on her hands, she drowned.

To this very day, I blame myself. It was my idea to go swimming and I was the one who asked her, and I couldn't save her.

This community is the best I've ever come across, and I'm just needing help.

Ah crap. I thought this would be a "my pants slipped" post, but my heart just stopped..

Well... Hrm. It is NOT your fault. You tried to save her, but that does make it so much more hurtful.. Just content yourself with the fact that shes probably in a much better place right now, and I bet she isn't mad at you for not saving her, but shes waiting for you so she can hug you and itll all be all right...
