I used to cycle a, lot but the i had a crash ad now all tention in the gear wires has gone and they dont bloody work! So I can't ride.
Is there somekind of bike insurance you can get for a bike in case this happens?
What do you do when your bike broke?
What can I do to get around bearing in mind i live a few miles from any bus stop and my parents are always busy?

I'm sorry to hear that man. It sucks being off the wheels.
I have my bikes covered under my parents house contents insurance. I'm not sure if its the same in the UK.
I have been around bikes a lot and have been fortunate enough to have been shown how to do most maintenance and repairs on my bikes. If I can't fix it, I've been using my current bike shop for about 3 years now, and their tech's are awesome (plus I know them well and ride with them often)
If you can't fix your bike, do you have any other modes of transport? I long board a lot as a way of transport. It could be a means to get you to public transport quicker.

Actually there is bikers insurance. I was just reading about it at my insurance office the other day. I don't know if you have to be a hardcore bike cyclist in order for you to be allowed to get it, though.

No hahaha longboard skate boarding. I love surfing but it isn't really a means of transport.
Sounds like your best bet would be just to fix your bike.

If you've lost tension its probably because you've knocked the rear gears about, or you may have slipped a cable. I do all my own maintenance and learned it from online articles. This site has some good ones...

I also learned from their spoke adjustments (cos some twat jumped all over my bike and bent my wheels). A few weeks back my dad broke one of my gear cables putting some garden tools away, and I had it replaced (I had a spare cable) really quick without even needing the guide, which made me feel dead manly, let me tell you.
