i am 13 years old and 4 months
i am 5"2
my dad is 6"2.5
and my mom is 5"2
i have such broad shoulders i wear an adults medium but there so small on my shoulders i have to cut the sleeves off of them.
my tallest blood realted realtive is my dads cousin who is 6"11
i take after my dad you can take a picture of him when he was 13 and put it next to my picture and you cant tell who is who

Now my question is i just went to the doctor to get a phyiscal and he measured me and i was 5"2 then he took a chart and said i am goin to be 5"10he did'nt ask any questions or notin i thought well thats kinda dumb cause my dads 6"2 and nobody on my dads side of the family has been under 6"0 since my great great great granpa who was 5"11 but about 2 months ago i went to a pedeatrion and he asked questions toke a blood test and more and said i was goin to be anywhere from 6"1 to 6"5 so who do i believe my doctor or the pedeatrion

i think this should be posted in introductions.

we cant tell you what your height is gonna be because that changes from person to person. you can sort of figure out your height from your family members but that is the only way to have an idea on hw tall your gonna be.

Hello, and welcome to VT.

I know this won't be the answer you're looking for but I say don't believe neither of them and only believe what you actually turn out to be. There are so many height estimates that no one can really be sure.

Here's one way to project your height:

Take your mother height in inches and then add 5 inches. Then, take your fathers height in inches. Add them up and divide by 2. That will be your projected height.

So that would project you to be 5'9"

Projections are just estimations and aren't accurate and should be taken with a pinch of salt. You'll know your actual height in a few years. You'll just have to sit tight until then. ;)

i think this should be posted in introductions.
Um no it doesn't. let the moderators worry about where threads should go. Thanks ;)

ok Anthony. Didnt mean to offend anyone or be like a moderator.

When i first read it i misread it and thought you were asking how tall you would be. that is completly my fault. I agree with anthony. you shouldnt believe any of them because it takes time to figure out how tall your gonna be.(i like how anthony described it better)

Who cares how tall you'll be? But you still don't know 100% how tall you'll be until you actually get older.

I am 6'5" and my mom is 5'4" and my dad is 6'0"

All my uncles on my mom's side are tall while people on my dad's side were average. So compared to my parents I'm very tall and according to those 'doctor projections' i was to be a lot shorter. So realize that projections can be wrong and you should take them lightly.

There isn't any way to actually know how tall you'll be unless you can predict the future. ;)

Ok nice to hear about your height mate. "I am so intrested"

shouldn't this be in the introductions section?

No I just said it doesn't need to be. He's not introducing himself - he has questions about puberty. It belongs here.

Let moderators worry about where threads should go. If I've posted in a thread already I obviously don't want it moved otherwise I would have already.

Height is genetic, it's determined by the genes you get from your folks. So, if you have large parents, it's a safe bet that you'll be big, too. (And vice versa.). The only thing that changes genetics is stuff like severe illness/disease, malnutrition, and other really wonky stuff.

A pediatrician is a doctor (one who specializes in children). So, it sounds like 2 doctors you saw gave you conflicting advice. Unless they X Rayed your hand (to see of the little bones there were closed or not, that's how they really determine how much more growth to expect), then frankly I'd believe the doctor that told me what made the most sense, which in your case, was the one who predicted you'd be taller.

Oh, and welcome to VT!

you would think the pedeatrition would have a better idea since its his specific field. i would be suprised if your not well over 6 foot since it seems to run in your family. but really, nobody will know for sure until you have finished growing.
