But damn me if I said it wasn't addicting. It's so..tempting. I want to cut so bad. But I promised my friend I wouldn't. So I'm going to stop.
Purpose of the thread?
WHAT DO TO STOP ADDICTING THOUGHTS.
..yeah, what did you do to stop, or trying to do to stop? I'm no where near as bad as some people here, but..it's still on my thoughts allot.

just find something else to do, like a hobbie, or talk to a friend. im sure the friend you promised to stop would happily talk to you when you feel the need to cut.

Google self harm distraction techniques. You'll find lists on the internet.
But that's what you need to do, distract yourself. Sing, write, draw, read, watch tv, listen to music, go for a walk, swimming, running etc. Do anything you like until the urge goes away. Because trust me the urge will leave at some point.

Think about happy things.
I got addicted to caffiene once-
Much more addicting than expected.
Anyway you can stop cutting simpily by removing the things that make you cut. Skool making you cut? Skip school sometimes. Parents making you cut? Ditch home for a while. Friends making you cut? Find new friends.

Try to remove or distance yourself from all the things that made you want to start cutting in the first place. Once you've gone back and tried to work those out then it should, more-so than leaving things how they are, get the urges off your mind.
I find that keeping myself busy and surrounded by people helps the most. Sure, the urges are still nearly always there and those you have to fight, be strong, distract yourself, you'll be able to do it. Making sure you're alone for as little time as possible, stay round friends houses, go out to places, just out and about in the public is a good idea which is why when you get an urge going for a walk might be good for you. Helps to clear your thoughts as well, power walk the urges off.
Like Louise has already said distraction techniques can easily be googled or searched in past VT threads and she's given you some already so I won't bother specifying them. What I will say though is, if you haven't already, chuck away anything you use or that you could purposely hurt yourself with. Anything you might be thinking of using. It's no good having it there triggering/tempting you.
I hope you get over this, Blake. Sure you've only done it a few times, it might not seem so bad but it can ruin your life. Even just with a few scars the paranoia of someone seeing, realising that you can't swim without people seeing, having to explain why you're so covered up in such hot weather. It really isn't worth it. Find a hobby or some other way to vent, a sport is probably a good one.
