So I recently got back from my "introduction to highschool" thing at our high school. Anyways, so we went through our skedual and each class was 10 minutes long. This got me thinking: Holy shit. every assignment will count towards weather I go to a good college or not. I'm just a little panicky. The whole social thing is fine. It's the fact that everything is at stake when it comes to work, tests, etc...

really? every single assignment? You just need to maintain good grades if you want to be able to go to a good college. Does every single assignment have to be an A or something? even if you do bad on one test, if you do well on others, to bring your total grade up, it can't be that bad...

I have a few things to say. Be wise. Don't be like me I screwed up my past 2 years of high school as a freshman it wasn't too bad, but last year, as a sophomore, I just completely screwed myself over. Do your best in school and pay attention. Try not to get too distracted from friends. Don't get me wrong go out with friends and have a good time as much as you can, but be organized. Get binders. Get a planner, and in it write homework from each class and make sure you get it done. Ask questions if you don't understand. Do your best is what I'm saying. I'm a junior in high school now, and I definitely regret what I have done the past 2 years. Get it right! :). I wish you the best senor! :D

You're definitely not alone there...I just started my freshman year a few days ago. At my orientation, they drilled into our brains that colleges do look at your grade as a ninth grader. And today, my science teacher basically said the same thing too, except in a way that had me even more nervous. I've been so stressed the last few days, my workload is heavier (well..of course) and everything's just a big transition and hectic. I'm tired already, and I've probably only had like an hour to just breathe and do what I want.... I'm fine socially, I know some kids from elementary and I've made some new friends too, it's just maintaining good grades that has me stressed. And is it just me, or are some of the teachers making us do ridiculous things?! But whatever, it's all worth it in the end. Or it better be. Even though I'm incredibly pooped out, I am having fun, and I'm excited to go to school at my school for the next four years. :)

Well, hope you have a great year! And if you ever feel like you're going to explode, just think about what could happen if you end up not doing all of your work. That usually keeps me motivated...

You are a little over the top, but yeah, do your best. One assignment or test won't cost you your dream college.

Perhaps you're being a little alarmist here. Certainly, the teacher will take all your work into account when giving you your grades, but it's all about maintaining a good average. Just try to get a decent amount of sleep at night, focus in class and take good notes. You won't have to worry :) Thousands of people have survived high school before you, thousands will after you, and you can too.

[sarcastic] there's also like, a 90% chance that the teacher will just fail you on the spot, just cause he doesn't like you. Then you have to go to a homeless shelter and live in a refridgerator box. The rent on those things... [sarcastic]

Grade9 is a walk in the park. It's a repetition of grade8 only with condoms sold at the lounge... giggidy giggidy!
