I've been thinking lately about purchasing a tablet device. I really don't know which one I want to get. All I know is that I want one that is reasonably priced and running on Android. Any suggestions?
Fair warning, anyone who lists the iPad gets launched. I absolutely will not buy an iPad, so don't waste your breath.

Well you could get the Nexus 7, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, or the Transformer Prme by ASUS.
What is your price range.

The iPad really isn't that bad of a tablet.
I've always kind of thought lowly of them, but we used them on Friday in Astronomy class, and the apps they have for the iOS platform are amazing.
That aside, what would you use your tablet for?

Probably like $250 or $400

I've heard good things about Asus lately. Isn't the Nexus 7 an Asus?

Then you need something with lotsa ram and processing power with a capable graphics processing(Tegra 3).
Asus' TF300T fits the description quite right. Though, it's heavy. It's Plastic body will give you the illusiom of weightlessness. Asus T. Prime is also a heavy contender.
Also, fuck iPad, for the sixth time.

Yes the Nexus 7 is an Asus tablet, and if you get the 16 GB model, it fits nicely into your price range.

Right know there's nothing that can beat the performance of the iPad 3 as long as you are willing to spend that much money.
I would personally wait just a little longer. With the Windows 8 tablets, specially the Microsoft Surface coming out in a month or so, things are sure to be shaken up and prices are sure to drop. Specially if the rumors of Microsoft taking a hit on the ARM Surface are true: iPad-level performance for Kindle-level price is unbeatable.
Android tablets are little more than a toy. The only ones that aren't are about as expensive as an iPad but with only half the processing power. Its really hard to recommend an Android tablet vs an iPad unless you are going for a 'cheap' toy. But once again, is a bad moment to buy one just before the big tablet-related launch of the year.

You didn't read the whole post, did you? u.u'
What exactly you want to do with the tablet is important. As I said, if you just want a toy, a Kindle Fire or similar might be all you want, but you might want to wait and see what the Microsoft Surface launches at, and the impact it has on other tablets prices.

Yes I did. And from it I didn't get what you wanted it for. A refurbished Kindle Fire is $160, I have one, is pretty much the cheapest Android tablet out there. But, does it do what you need it to do? I don't know, since you didn't specify.
Based on the OP, for the third time I say: Kindle Fire if you can't wait a month to see if the prices go down. I'm not trying to be an ass or a troll, just trying to help with an honest, informed post.

I have an iPad it's great for what I use a tab for (web, games, etc.) but if you want an android tab I'd suggest the nexus 7 if you want a 7 inch or an asus transformer prime if you want a 10 inch
I am a huge android fan but i got the iPad because I still think android tablets need quite a bit of refining.
Also, they are selling wifi xooms refurbished for ~$250

I'd wait for the Microsoft Surface. It's not going to be AndroidOS, obviously, but it will be amazing. It will have a much better design than the iPad, or any Android powered tablet I've seen. It's going to be running off of Win8, with the option of the "metro" theme or the usual desktop. I think it'll be awesome, since it'll be a TRUE tablet then.
Off-topic: Apple isn't bad. Apple doesn't make "bad" products. They make overpriced ones though. However, they're reliable. I have an iPhone and I love it. Why? Because it's fast, user-friendly, and RELIABLE. Also, I believe Apple's app store to be better. Sure, it's not open-source, but that's fine for people like me who don't care if it is or not. Sure, there's no flash. Most websites now have iOS enabled pages. Sure, I cannot put an N64 emulator on my phone, but do I care? No, because I own an N64.
Apple computers have very good applications too, but for the normal user, a PC would do better. The iPad is neat and all, but if you ask me, it's just a big iPhone. Nothing worth spending $800 on. And iPods may be overpriced MP3 players, but I like the format of them and once again, they're reliable. I have on from 2004 that the only problem is a dead battery.

Surface was also in my consideration. I remember back when Microsoft Surface was originally a table (It is now called Microsoft PixelSense). Is Surface going to be like in the thousands range for pricing? I hope not :/

The Intel based model will cost around $1000. The ARM based model will be between $500-600. The last time I checked though it was going to cost $600.

Aside from iPad (which has its faults, like restarting at random times -_- ) I really liked the Samsung tablet, it took some getting used to. But I really like how it can play flash videos (I think) and I liked how you could download videos.

PS, to those who mentioned the iPad, I did make it clear in the original post that I won't even consider it.

Not been confirmed yet. In fact, latest rumor suggests it is going to be an iPad killer with Microsoft willing to take a hit by having the ARM-based one at the $200 price range, with the Intel-based one starting at the same price as the iPad.
Oh, and unlike the iPad and Android, Windows RT tablets (like the ARM-based Surface) support the full Unreal Engine 3 for easy porting of PC and Xbox games: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/Unreal-Engine-3-Tegra-Windows-RT-Windows-8-Epic-Citadel,17255.html
