I just recently got the Samsung Galaxy S II X (T989) with 4.0 as my first Android phone. Coming from iOS, there's a lot more you can do with Android. What are some apps would you recommend that you think just improve the Android experience?

Many apps on iOS are available on Android. Android is a lot more customizable, such as you can change how you are notified and change your interface. You say you've come over from iOS, so if I were you, I'd try out the app called "iPhone Notifications (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nlucas.iphonenotifications&hl=en)" which may be to your liking, where it pretty much shows the exact same notifications as iOS 5.

Actually, I like Android's notifications better. All in all, I'm not really looking to try to emulate my iPhone, I want to see what are the apps specific to Android that make it all it's cracked up to be

AppBrain, GNotes, Quick Settings, Go Contacts, AppRemover, MoveApps.
Just a few I have on my HTC Desire.
