Does anyone here have to do their own laundry at home? My mom makes both my brother and I do our own and we have since we were 12. She says it builds character or something like that and says wee need to know how to do things like that. I just like doing my own so my mom doesn't have to fold my boxers anymore. Some of my friends have no clue how to wash their clothes and stuff like that, so I am glad my parents made us learn how to do it. Anyone else have to do theirs? Are you glad you have to do it?

is this the right place for this?
I'm in college right now so I do my own laundry and i do it relatively often. I honestly don't mind doing it, it's not like it's that difficult

I've been doing my own laundry ever since I was 15. You're gonna have to learn it at some point if you want to survive.

Yeah I do, I think every kid should do their own chores. I don't believe parents should have to come home after a long day of work and wash their teenager's dirty clothes, or the dishes, or vacuum the house. It's not like most kids do that much anyway. They can argue they have school, but that isn't anything compared to a career.

We all stuff the laundry in different containers depending on the colors of the clothes, so all that has to be done is empty the bin in the washing machine, set it on the correct program and press start. It's usually my mother's duty cos she keeps track of the colors, how much soap and stuff to put in, etc... It's not a problem for me to do it, or anybody, it's just she doesn't ask us.
Ironing is too limited to my mum only, and it's better for it to be so, for the welfare of our wardrobe.
I vacuum clean the house, man the dishwasher, cook sometimes and do whatever I'm required.

I live in a care home - like foster care - theres 6 boys here.

WE dont get made to do it.

But I do all mine -- so do some other boys.

Its good to know - and usually its just a putting it in the machine then the drier or hanging some shirts to dry --

Its feels good to be a bit your own person.

We dont get made to help but we all do with food prep or windo cleaning etc

I think its good

I do all mine - Its really just get it organised and into the machine then drier or hang to dry. After school on Friday I do all my school shirts and whites briefs gym stuff etc

I do heaps of gym and martial arts so the laundry is massive but I do a quick
one load mid week as well.

change bed -
and then clean room and my bathroom

hang stuff to dry or put in drier

then bed stuff and the rest

It reall only takes about two hours and then
Iron my school shirts polish shoes etc

You just have a routine and hey presto clean.

Some boys think its weird but hey thats life

I'm 17 and just started (only for fun) and I find it kinda fun. Idk why. Like sometimes I'll purposely write on my bed sheet, just so I can put it in the washer and watch the stain disappear :D ik weird I like doing it. But if I don't wanna do it, I just put it in a basket and put it out of my room by my door and my mom washes it
