Alright, so ALL of my guy friends are Xbox players(im not exaggerating all of them play Xbox all the time) and im not that kind of person, once in a while i'll play video games, but i love to do things! And the only people who actually do things are my friends who are girls.
Its not that i dont like hanging out with girls, its great! But i want some guys that actually do stuff! Problem is.. My friends have always been the nerds, geeks, and dorks so i have no clue how to make friends with the guys that do stuff.
Any suggestions for starting conversations with the outgoing people? Is there a certain way to get them to talk back? I feel like im trying to do research on a whole new species.. Lol

I was gonna say it depends on where you live, but you only mentioned a far away place. I would say about half of my buddies are really into xbox. I have one and when they come over they play it. I rarely play- like an hour a month for the same reason you said - because I'd rather do something even if it's a different kind of game like basketball, ping pong, cards, tennis, truth or dare.

To me, vid games are just a good way to kill time, which I kinda don't wanna kill time with my friends.

I don't know how out going you are and that's a big part of it. The more outgoing you are the more people you'll meet. You don't need to get tghem to talk, if they're outgoing, they'll talk. If they aren't outgoing, they won't.

So if they aren't, it might be something you're doing. Like.. your approach or something. Or you live in an area where there aren't a lot of outgoing people. I'm in the atlanta area and people here are very outgoing, see them all the time because the weather is good almost all year.

so don't worry about keeping the convo going. its almost like a test for them, if they talk back a lot, there will just be a flow to it all. If they don't, they aren't the kind of person you're lookin for anyway.

My close friends are all out going or very outgoing. my closest friend live across the street, he's always gotta be home by 10, but he's a great guy with cool parents so all kinds of kids stop by his house every day, every night. Its weird because youd think he'd be screwed for having to be home, but if nothing is going on, ya always know you're welcome over there. So maybe start something like my best friend did and start telling people if you're bored, cmon over. (but no xbox) truth or dare instead.

Well first of all, have you tried suggesting things to do with your current friends, maybe they are just not great at planning things?

The best way I have found to making new friends is find a common interest to talk about. Like if you were into football you could talk about football. If you find something to break the ice with someone it helps a lot.

I would also recommend reading this guide (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/showthread.php?t=25633), as it is very informative.

A tip though, if you do make new friends, don't forget the old ones because it is never nice to let people feel neglected. However, like I said. Try and find a common interest that you and some people both have and talk to them about it and go from there. Chances are once you get a conversation going it will all fall into place naturally.

Well, i live in Arkansas and since the weather here is so bipolar its hard to meet people that actually do stuff outside or something other than video games.
Bt you have a good point, that if they arent outgoing they wont respond much so they wont be the kind of person im looking for.

Yeah, i've tried dozens of times to get them to do something, it doesnt work.

I hate football.
The gude actually helped a little.. But my situation is a little hard to explain. See im the "quiet" kid who doesnt get out much. Which is the opposite of the truth, but my reputation at school makes it tough to make friends with people that do stuff.

Thats true, it should fall into place. And i'd feel terrible if i neglected my friends so that shouldnt be a problem.
btw, 100th post woohooo!!! :D

I know how it can be to have a repuatation hold you back.

However, you just have to attempt at making a new image for yourself, yes it can be hard but again you just have to work at it.

Football was just an example, however what interests do you have? What would you like to do in terms of "going out" places. You know if you know what you want to do then look into clubs that do the things you want to do. Finding a common interest is the best way to go about things.

Also congrats on making it to 100 :)

Just start playing sports and going to places/events where outgoing people would probably go, and just try and get talking to some people
