For the last few years when I get my period I get really, really sick. I get a fever and can't keep any food down at all, ontop of the usual crippling cramps.

I wanted to see if anyone had any idea how to help this? And what could be causeing it?

Unfortunately this is remarkably common among women. It can often last until they have their first child. So don't worry, there is probably nothing causing it other than slightly out of balance hormones.
There are things that can help though. As unbalanced hormones can make it much worse, asking your doctor to put you on the pill can really help - it did with me as I was the same as you. Don't worry about having to take it at exactly the same time every day if you are not using it as birth control, it just needs to be taken within an hour.

As a more permanent solution, you can have an IUD fitted. I would personally recommend the Mirena IUD, which I have, especially if you get very heavy periods as well as it can often stop your periods completley for the time it is in (it lasts 5 years) it also works as a birth control. However, if you live in the US, it can cost you $850 without insurance. Although, as it lasts 5 years it works out around the same as paying for the pill for the same period.
Luckily it is covered by most insurance companies and you can often qualify for patient assistance if you explain how much your bad periods affect your day to day life.

For a herbal solution (and a cheap solution) try taking womens multivitamins and specifically Evening Primrose Oil (three times a day) which will help balance your hormones.

I hope this helps. I know how horrible it is to have periods like that, especially when the pain and nausea stops you from living your life. Good Luck :)

I've suggested going on the pill to my parents and they said there was no chance. Words cannot describe my frustration at this.
