Which song out there has your favourite guitar solo on it?
Mortal Coil

First of all, that's a really good question :)
Um, I like every Hendrix solo ever. I'm not a huge Hendrix fan, but his solos are priceless. Especially "All Along the Watchtower."

Comfortably Numb, still believe it's the greatest guitar solo ever recorded. Packed with emotion and feeling. It's not about the frantic pace, or hitting 3 notes a second, it's about the sound, the raw emotion and the passion and it still impacts me deeply every time i hear it.

Well there is a lot of good ones. I really like the guitar solo at the start of cowboys from hell by Pantera though.

The 1994 version is the best version of the Comfortably Numb solo. It's still overrated as all hell.

Gilmour said that this was one of his most uninspired solos. All he did was fiddle around on his Les Paul and just came up with something really quick. I don't think he likes it all that much.

It doesnt matter if he liked or not you have to admit it was still pretty good

Uh, yeah, it does matter if he liked it or not. If he didn't like it, it should have never been in the final product. It was Bob Ezrin, the producer, who wanted the damn solo in there so it could be commercially profitable. Waters also forced Gilmour into doing the solo, which is probably why he didn't put that much effort into it. For Gilmour's standard of playing, this is so far below what he could have done.

Thats not relevant in this thread though because this thread is named "Your favorite guitar solo" so in this thread it really doesnt matter if Gilmour liked it or not

You're the one who said it doesn't matter if Gilmour liked it or not, I responded against that. I just don't see how you think it doesn't matter how a guitarist views their work.

Sultans of Swing has a really catchy riff though. I'd prefer that to Comfortably Numb.
Also, what's with the majority of classic rock being posted? Come on people, dig deeper than that.

I like the one in Through the Fire and Flames (for all you people who think it's sped up, I've heard it all) and most of David Gilmour's solos.

It isn't a solo, but the riff in Raining Blood is awesome! I like the Waking the Demon solo just cos I saw it live ;) and I also love Dave Navarro's solos in One Hot Minute (the album, not the song)
