What are your thoughts on it? here (http://jme.bmj.com/content/early/2012/03/01/medethics-2011-100411.full) is a medical article about it.
Many of you have said about normal abortion, the fetus thing is not living. but what are your opinions of aborting an actual, live baby? i really think this is sick, its one thing having a normal abortion (well, for some its killing no matter what, but a different thread) while its another thing have an abortion on a actual, living, breathing baby. Whats next, their gonna make slavery ok? their gonna make killing certain races ok? the world isnt getting better, its just getting more twisted. especially based off of this thread, of killing a fully developed baby (from fetus to baby)

Just like spartan days, if its not perfect, over the cliff it goes.
No but seriously, that's actually really disturbing for me. And not a lot of things involving immoral topics disturb me.
Aborting a fetus is fine (imo). But after birth abortion is just.. sick.

Live abortion = murder. Pure and simple.

Im pro choice on abortion and everything... but just after birth abortion... well the baby is freaking born and breaking and freaking everything! Thats totally different than a early term abortion! Then its alive too... I think, I dont know for sure, as long as it has a beating heart I would consider it alive. But yeah this, just screwed up!

no no, definitely not okay. I'm pro-choice, but this is murder, because the baby is already BORN.

The paper isn't advocating infanticide. If it's the same one I'm thinking of it's an anti-choice critique/satire of the pro-choice position.
Also, I doubt anyone thinks that "after-birth abortions" should be legal in any context other than with severely disabled children.

its a murder....No questions about it....if a man would be punished by killing his baby this would be the same....

I think it might be justified in extreme cases, i.e. the child will die of an illness shortly and nothing can be done to ease their suffering. Any cases where it is not done as an act of mercy to prevent untreatable pain are basically murder. There is no reason to kill a healthy child, they can be put up for adoption.

I don't see any difference between this and aborting a fetus. All you're doing is stopping a potential life. Yes all its little organs are starting to work but its probably just as conscious as it was in fetus or sperm form

When it's in the womb it's abortion. You're stopping the pregnancy, thus aborted.
When it's outside of the womb and only a dependent now, it's murder.
I agree with Gigablue about mercy kills though. My mom had to see some newborns suffer in their short hours of life, one baby boy had something wrong with his lungs and everyone had to watch him live for only 2 hours in awful agony.

Really what everyone is saying is right... being it IS born... it is technically murder.

The difference between this and an abortion is that a fetus is dependent on the mother to survive, and her rights are more important, therefore she should be able to end the pregnancy. An infant is not dependent on the mother and so if the parents don't want it, it can be put up for adoption.

That's fuckin horrible. Why couldn't you just put the baby up for adoption if you don't want it?
