I leave my laptop on sleep mode when I'm not using it and I just wondered if anybodyelse does the same, I find it loads faster and is generally more responsive when I'm using it.

This is not ROTW so please don't debate any environmental affects

I do that too, but it's mostly because I'm in a hurry and don't want to wait for it to close skype and log and all that good stuff, but I don't want to leave it open, so I just close it without shutting it off. I shut if off at least a couple times a week to install updates though.

When I'm out for a long time I usually hibernate it. or before I go to bed. Probably not a good idea...but when I'm not using it (for a short time) I let it sleep as well

I just close the lid when I've finished using it, one so it's faster and two so fucking net nanny doesn't re-enable it's self.

what the fuck is [net nanny]?
It's a program that helps people Google stuff when they can't do it themselves. Like a nanny on the computer.

Hey! You can't dictate how we respond to a topic. You realize you are single-handedly causing global warming with your irresponsible computer power habits? You are raising temperatures, melting the ice caps, and killing puppies by not turning off your computer.

I do it with both my laptop and desktop. It starts faster, yes, but sometimes Windoze starts acting all strange after that.

I some times sleep mine, but I always turn it off at the end of the day.

Sleep until it's bed time. Then I shut it off completely. Also, I normally let the battery run dry every 2 weeks or so.

I sometimes do it, it does start faster. But when I go to bed if I am not listening to music off of it then I do shut it down

I usually hibernate if I'm going away from it for a short amount of time (i.e. a lunch break or to walk my dog) and planning on going right back. I don't like to leave it hibernating for long periods of time, though.

The only time I shut it completely off is if i'm either traveling long distances and want to save battery (while i'm in the car for 7 hours and not using it), or preforming an upgrade/diagnostics. :D

Just because with how often I'm on my computer, turning it off every single time I stop using it would be just a nuisance because of the only thing I hate about Windows: the eternity it takes to start up the damn thing. All my free time that isn't spent inter-personally is on the computer, so unless I'm going to sleep, on vacation, etc., I don't bother to shut it down.

Because I use my computer at least once in 2 hours, I leave it on sleep. i only shut down my computer around once a week.

I do that too. If I find the computer is running too slow I then restart as normal.

Incorrect. It's a parental control software which disallows access to certain websites.

I do it, but I also shut it down completely if I know I won't be using it for more than about an hour.

I always put it on sleep mode, tends to start up quicker when I next need to use it.
