so this year our school has decided to not get any new textbooks; even though the old ones are beyond recignition. So they decided to let us bring our phones, tablets, laptops, etc. The problem is..... My damn laptop crashed, amd my ipod just gave up and died. And i have absolutely no money to buy anything els. I dont know if i will get anything of that nature for christmas either. This has been a rant on my damn school and their technology.

I think that it's ridiculous that your school is just doing it to save themselves the money of providing newer textbooks.
You should try asking your parent/guardian to buy you a new laptop, because if it's for your education, I think your parent/guardian should provide the proper supplies for it.

I think it's dumb for school to do that. I mean, allowing it is fine, but they should have good textbooks for the people that don't have those things. Not everyone can afford to just go out and buy a lap top or Ipad or whatever just because the school is being cheap.

That's pretty dumb, I thought schools were required to have textbooks. Even the schools in Maine have textbooks. We also have gotten the great opportunity for everyone grades 7+get a MacBook because of an agreement thing. I think that is wonderful because the Macs are really good for the school.

A school in my region did this. However they were required to supply all students who couldn't afford or didn't have any means of internet with something like an ipad or laptop.
See if your school will do something similar, i don't think they'd be allowed to leave students fending for themselves when it came to education.

I think that it isn't fair that the school assumes that every student has the means to access necessary information for educational purposes. The school needs to provide something equivalent for those who do not have the available resources. :\

My guess is that your school will supply kids with laptops or tablets that can't afford it. Overall I thing that's just low what your district did there...

I wish my school did this. It's a real bitch carrying textbooks around for every class, making sure you have the right one on the right days. You always have to make a plan to stop by your locker and exchange them between periods because you always try to only bring the tb of the next period and leave the rest in your locker. If you're going to period 3 there's no point in carrying around the books for periods 1, 2, and 4. Last year my Math textbook and Socials textbook had similar colors on the spine and cover. Half the time I always switched them because I pulled them out from my locker where it's dark and put them in my bag without paying attention. That's not too bad I you left the other book in my locker and could just go get it, but sometimes I'd put the book I thought I needed the next day in my bag after finishing my homework, then get to Math or Socials the next day and realize I switched them because of the colors.
Sure, I'm not above just plain ol' forgetting my laptop. But it sure beats managing all this shit.

Actually, I wholeheartedly support the school's decision. They're moving forward, but they should provide technology for kids who can't afford it. Also, OP should get the iPad 2, which is selling for pretty cheap.
